Hi Forum,
SOLIDWORKS Forums

i´m new in SW and i really need your help. I´m an experienced mold maker and i start a new job and i have to learn now to design the molds.

I know how a mold has to look like but i really don´t have experience how i can design a mold.

I saw in you tube great videos from Lars Christensen but only in Fusion 360. He did exactly what i really need.

If someone has step by step Videos how to creat a mold from beginning to the end that would be really great.

Or if someone is willing to make videos i´m ready to give something for the work. Please text me.

Re: Hi Forum,

there are plenty of guides and tutorials available for free online. being a mold maker will give you a good start by understanding DFM.

you can use a guide such as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqROZFStz6c and create your mold split from the customers part. once you save the bodies out drag in the split file to your mold base assembly. cut and join the parts to the base and add in your ejectors, runners, water, adjust shutoffs and clearances etc..

Re: Hi Forum,

Hopefully, you are not the only designer at the company.  Assuming you are not the only designer working there, your coworkers (the other designers) are the single most valuable training resource you have.  Learn from them.  Then there is the Solidworks VARs that offer training.  I'm sure that you clearly communicated to the company that you have zero experience using Solidworks at all, and that you have never designed a mold...in any software...ever...in your entire life.  So they should be fully aware that you will be needing training.

And then, of course, there are the countless videos on YouTube that can be found by simply going to YouTube and searching for "Solidworks Mold".
