I am very tired of searching for a pattern tool which can be used for linear and angular in a single time i.e, one or more features to be linearly moved at some other angle on a curved face (like cylinder, sphere etc.). Please provide with some example solutions at the earliest. I need this feature to be patterned linearly but at different angle.

I find that the most efficient way to switch back and fourth between all the files I am working on is to use the 'browse open files' that is located in the tool bar under the "open" folder. I know that I can hit 'r' and bring up the 'browse recent documents' window, but that is usually populated with a bunch of stuff that I don't want to use and not the stuff that I am using (aka the files I have open). I would really like a quick shortcut to bring up the 'browse open documents' window, and I

Hole Wizard Drop-Down Defaults We have noticed a few times where parts have come through the shop with counterbores for hex head bolts when they should have been for SHCS. In Solidworks, It seems when selecting counterbored holes in the hole wizard, the drop-down for "type" always defaults back to Hex Head instead of remaining SHCS.

I want to complete this loft feature around the curve. It is not coming. How to do it?

I really don't know what has happened here. I created this part late last year and recently went to modify it when I realised that some of the sketches were not fully defined (Part of the learning curve). I have tried and tried but cannot seem to fully define the 3D sketch of 'Loft 1' and it's driving me crazy because I know it's going to be something simple!

How to do the wood carving in solidworks? You may want to expand on your question with a little more information / explanation of what it is exactly that you mean or want.

I have seen in some YouTube videos to cut a thread cutting profile is sketched on plane created on end point of the Helix/Spiral curve. In others videos cutting profile is sketched on origin plane. Is it make any difference?

I want to link sketch text to configuration specific properties. In this way I would have different sketch text for different configurations. An example would be a different part number for a part for different configuration

So this box I am modeling has a lip on it which needs to curve and connect at the corner. I have tried connecting them with a loft and the preview result looks pretty good, but it won't create because it says it would cause zero thickness geometry. Looking at the model and the preview I can't really see where the problem is, so I don't really know how to go about fixing it. Any ideas on where to start, or alternative methods to make this work?

Modeling beveloid gear I have a complex gear, that I will probably have to make an exact CAD model of it, because I will need it for multiaxis CNC machine. From what I found out until now, I won't be able to make it with classical gear manufacturing methods, at least near my location.

So I was modelling a weld-ment structure. During modelling, i created a series of holes to insert bolts on one side. Now I want to make similar holes on the other side.

I am trying to model some wire. 4 conductors from a connector to another connector and twisted along the way. This means that the last 1cm or so from the connector it has to "untwist" and become linear so that it mates into a 1x4 2mm pitch connector. What I have is below.

I have investigated using grid systems but it just doesn't seem to be designed for the architectural industry. The company that I work for does a lot of architectural feature work such as stairs, awnings, canopies and lobbies. We need to follow a lot of architectural details and use the grid system setup by the project. We do most of our modeling fairly closely following the Skeleton Sketch Part Method for Large Assemblies.

I have a Control Panel with a logo with a frame around it, some letters positive, some negative. It's a "double nested extrusion" that I made myself a several months ago and thought, wow this is a great new feature because always before I had to make it in pieces. I made a copy to work on the next rev.

I am creating a sheet metal box. I just realize I do not have Vent in Sheet Metal feature. Doing the manual cut is time consuming. What other option do I have?

I have a control panel with a logo that is apparently a double nested extrusion. I created it myself and thought at the time I love this new feature. I made a copy of the control panel to work on the next rev. and when I remove some of the lettering from Boss-Extrude2 suddenly the logo generates a "double nested extrusion" mssg. and the extrusion fails.

I'm working with several plastic parts imported from NX (Parasolid) and my job now is to modify them with Solidworks, so I have to find the best way to transform the part in order to make it parametric but taking advantage of the geometry already existing. I guess that Feature Recogniser should be my very best friend in this kind of situations, but I'm not taking a good advantage from it because the pieces are a bit complex and I'm not using it as deeply as possible I think...

Having a little trouble on how to model this inner cut. Mainly the middle portion. The outer portion is somewhat rectangular, while the most inner portion is a revolved feature, but the middle seems a more in between or whatever. Appreciate any thoughts.

I have a complex part, but this example should suffice. Imagine you want to fit a round peg in a square hole, by deforming the square hole to be round. The easiest thing to do would be to insert a cylinder into the square hole and deform it by radially expanding to a specified distance using the cylinder as the tool.
