Seeking recommended general process for upgrading to 2017 Products. We are currently using: Solidworks mechanical, Solidworks Electrical, PDM Pro - All on 2016 SP4. Can I upgrade just PDM server products along with the PDM client - and NOT upgrade Solidworks Mechanical or Electrical clients?

Did you know that Solidworks rescinded the ability to activate your license on two separate machines? This was super handy when you had a portable laptop and an office computer setup. Or, some call it a "home" license, allowing you to activate at the office and at home. Now we have to transfer our license between the computers or purchase an additional license for the second machine.

Like many I use SolidWorks on a desktop (most of the time) and a laptop (occasionally). For as long as I can recall, SolidWorks has let users install the application on the desktop and laptop and activate it on desktop and laptop. At any one time a user could have 2 activations running. This was convenient and (from my perspective) a USP for SolidWorks.

Does Solidworks support Office365? Does Solidworks 2016-2017 support Office365? I am looking to update my SW installation, but have recently been switched to Office 365.

We run multiple versions of Solidworks with Windchill WGM. Recently, we've added SW2016. Currently, we maintain SW2014, 2015, and 2016. Just recently, post installing SW2016, I started receiving the following pop up message when starting SW2015: "Document Manager available is not valid for use, switching to non DM Mode." (see attached screenshot) It started occurring directly after installing SW2016.

Having trouble finding if we can do a client upgrade from version 2016 right to 2017 sp2. Anybody know if that is OK to do, or do we have to do SP0, sp1 and sp2? The installation packages are built such that you could install from scratch directly to 2017 SP2.0 (or whichever version you wish to install).

I am dealing with issues when getting pack and go assemblies that have toolbox components. Its my understanding if I un check this box everything will work, and it does. However if I have my Hole Wizard and Toolbox folder pointing to to the PDM toolbox I can not un check this. So now to open the pack and go I must point my toolbox to my local machine, un check the box and open the pack and go.

Not even sure if this is, at all, possible but we've got Synology Rackstations that have Docker packages available on them. I know containers in Docker are lightweight and not full-fledged Virtual Machines (by comparison). They're meant to run single applications/services. I'm curious if it is at all possible to take something like the SolidNetWorks License application and run in a Docker container as a service.

My page setup is not working. When I get into the printer menu and click Page Setup, usually, I get the properties menu. I can access Page Setup from the File menu, but it comes up with all the buttons blank. It remembers none of the settings when I change them.

Have 2017 SP3 installed, updated windows with the creators update, and now I can open parts in SW, but the moment I try and create or open a drawing, it crashes SW. Also the Crash reporter crashes, and Solidworks RX crashes. Everything is useless. Anyone know a fix?

I have received a job invitation to the company which uses Inventor. Being only a SW user, I have decided to make myself an investigation of this program before the interview, as since now I have only formed my opinion about Inventor based on rumors on the internet. Firstly, I found this in depth comparison of two products:

I don't have any experience with the Dell T3610, but all of the other Dell workstations that I have used have been pretty easy to work on. I would not expect the 3610 to be any different. Dell seems to push the Nvidia cards.

I am wondering if there is a way to send out mass emails to all users of PDM (Professional) I have created a group in my PDM called Everyone that has limited abilities like only seeing approved drawings. This allows me to send an email to the group during a transition in the workflow.
