Joule Heating Tutorial Is there any tutorial for setting up a Joule heating simulation or does anybody have any tips? We have a need to run a study using it but I am not sure what inputs are required to start such a study.

I have been working with a basic gas turbine engine (ignoring the fuel for now) and added these orifice plates around the flame can, to help even out the flow. However, these plates should create a huge pressure drop (~2psi) that doesn't seem to be showing up. Instead Solidworks tells me the pressure drop is .1psi.

When two objects are in contact, we know that it isn't 100% contact. Does FloEFD take this into consideration? If it doesn't how do you know if results are accurate when something like this has a big impact in the real world?

I am trying to find out the maximum temperature rise in an IC (typically a TEC driver - ADN8834) when it is supplied with the theoretical power Input in watt. In my simulation I have included PCB layer details for heat dissipation through PCB, fan characteristics for air flow, thermal resistance of the IC package from the data sheet, perforated plates and radiations from the IC surface. I've been working to replicate an model aircraft prop made by APC (16x12E). After creating the prop and refining the shape, I am noticing that the flow trajectories show the airflow centered around the hub (see picture 1), with little to no airflow from the mid-point of the blades and up. This caused me concern until I looked at the cut plot of the velocity.

Is there a way to set up the flow simulation solver to write a results file every 100 iterations for example ? I am running a case with a fine mesh hence takes a lot of computational time. In the recent past the software crashes because of unknown reasons and i have had to start from the beginning. So I would like to know if we can save results on the go and resume from there if anything happens, just to be on the safer side.

I would like to know the correct way to set up boundary conditions for a hydraulic turbine, where the water entering the turbine is at approximately 23 PSI, and the pressure at the outlet is simply atmospheric pressure (14.7 PSI). We are a small startup considering the purchase of Flow Pro (without the electronics package) to help choose between and optimize a few different design approaches I have already modeled in SolidWorks 2016. I have no FEM experience. The purchase price represents what is for us a very large purchase, and I need to become proficient enough and have meaninful results in a matter of days. When I simulated a basic design of two materials with a thin sheet of thermal insulating material in between them. There was no difference in temperature if I hadn't have put the TIM in it. Is this correctly modelling it or are there betters ways to introduce TIMs into a simulation?

On microscopic levels surfaces aren't really flat. As far as I know CAD models are assumed to have perfect contact. I want to see the impact of a thermal insulating material on a display, the two different mediums being steel and aluminium.

Can anyone explain this? The chart bellow show results for a meshing sensitivity study where each design points represent a different meshing level using the automated meshing option. (design point 1 = Meshing level 3 , ......, design point 6 = Meshing level 8). I can not explain why I see a significant drop in the temperature for the last design point.
