Phase change with steam I am attempting to run a heat exchanger with steam through a helical coil. The steam starts as unsaturated with a quality of zero and I would like to know how much latent heat is absorbed.

Hello. Everytime I use Check Geometry with Exclude cavities checked, I always gets a failed result despite every problems being resolved but not when I unchecked "Exclude cavities". As a result, whenever I tend to place Inlet Volume Rate Flow on a lid which is on top of the pipe, there are no arrow shown and if I run the simulation, the simulation does not read the Inlet Volume Flow. Why does this happen and how do I resolve this?

There is an option in flow simulation wizard(initial conditions) to enter your desirable temperature and pressure which I believe they are initial conditions. There are also temp and pressure options when you want to define your boundary conditions for both opening flow and and opening pressure. I am a bit confused about how to use them correctly. Can someone explain them to me please?

I want to consider radiation in my flow simulation model. The model is a hollow cylinder with a bar in the middle as heat source and air as a fluid. The analysis type is an internal one. I want to consider radiation from the heat source surface and see how it affects the temperature inside the cylinder and also across the cylinder wall.

I have a sphere with multiple light bulbs (20) that have a combined wattage of 14KW. I am trying to set up my flow sim so the 20 light bulbs have a volume heat source of 20KW within the sphere so I can measure the total temperature in the solid, but it does not seem to be working. The inside of the sphere is considered a white body, but I am really only concerned with what the outside temperature of the sphere is at this point in time.

Hello every one, Can i substract two project (cut plots view) with diffrent settings and get new project with new cut plots (eqation for cut plot = cut plot 1 - cut plot 2). I would use macro (VBA) to do that ?

I have made numerous attempts to resolve this issue with SW 2016 SP4.0 flow simulation. Every time I attempt to run a simulation, I get this message : 'monitor lost connection with solver'.

Solver terminated error when using steam! I am doing an internal analysis and using steam as my coolant. I don't know why the solver terminated.

I just opened up flow sim 2016 for the first time. is anyone else seeing the thing crash after doing almost anything in the tree? Added BC boom, tried looking a the tracer study options, boom. Anyone else getting this?

I want to clone my model in Solidworks flow simulation. I want to change diameter of a component in an assembly and see the changes. It seems that when you change the diameter in your new cloned model, the previous model is also changes. Is there any way to clone models in a project and yet keep the previous one unchanged so that I can compare them together?

Imagine I have a solid bar and I want to define it as a heat source. The bar is in the middle of a hollow cylinder and air flows inside. Shall I define it as a surface heat source or a volume heat source? Thanks in advance.

I am looking for even volume flow through my part, but seem to be getting conflicting results from the visual flow trajectories and the numerical results from surface parameters in my flow simulations. Here is a photo of the flow trajectory. There is a single inlet (in this photo, at the back) set to an inlet volume flow, and 6 outlets set to environmental pressure.

using particle studies a lot I randomly encounter the effect that Flow Sim stops the calculation of the particle trajectories issuing the error message "can not create starting points". The main file is an assembly with a number of configurations. Having picked one these configurations to set up the first simulation all other simulations are simply clones of this first one using different configurations.

What means 'Use NGK' when defining a flow project? Seems to be new in SW2018 beta 1 and I could not find any information about it. Tags: none (add) flow simulation

Hi, I have a hollow cylinder with a heat source in the middle and air as flow. I am running an internal analysis. I am interested in temperature distribution across the thickness in solid. I am not quite sure about the wall condition that I have to consider in order to get reasonable results.

Cv is dimensionless. The flow coefficient Cv is the volume (in US gallons) of water at 60°F that will flow per minute through a valve with a pressure drop of 1 psi across the valve.

I would like to generate an animation from Flow that includes motion. I did my flow analysis with rotation and got expected results but when animating it looks funny to have the solid objects sitting still. If I do a Motion Study I get the motion I want...so is there a simple way to blend the two together within SW?
