Save Configurations in eDrawings
SOLIDWORKS Forums

I have SOLIDWORKS Student Edition 2016-2017. This includes SOLIDWORKS Premium and eDrawings Pro. I am attempting to include configurations in an eDrawings file, but the popup for selecting the configurations never appears.

I have tried multiple files, tried 'Save As' and 'Publish eDrawings File', and it never works. I have tried reinstalling about half a dozen times with no success.

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

Kyle,

The assembly or part must contain more than one configuration before you create the eDrawing.

File / Save as

save-as-pic1.PNG

save-as-pic2.PNG

I hope this helps,

Mark

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. The assembly I am trying to publish has three configurations and two exploded views. Using the exact same file, I have successfully published to an eDrawings file with configurations on another computer, I just do not get the popup shown in your second picture on my computer.

Thanks,

Kyle

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

Check your DPI settings and make sure it is 100% or lesser

It is set to 100%:

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

Use copy setting wizard on the other machine and apply those settings on your machine OR reset your SW registry. Check if that helps.

Make sure you take backup of the settings before trying anything.

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

I have tried resetting the SW registry. In fact, I have completely uninstalled SW, including deleting all remaining folders and registry keys, and reinstalled from scratch, multiple times. Same issue.

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

Well then it could be related to a known issue where education version users do not have ability to select configuration to export.

For now you can try the attached macro. It will save the active part file as edrawing in the same location and same file name with all configurations.

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

Do you have a link to that issue? Also, the attached macro isn't working for me. There are no errors, but the eDrawings file is not created.

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

I do have link to that but as that is accessible to commercial customers on subscription only. You may raise your issue here: SOLIDWORKS Student support

The macro works fine for me. Make sure you save the part file first before using the macro. If that is still the case , then can you show me your screen via team viewer?

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

The file is saved, but no edrawings file is generated. I would be willing to share my screen.

Thanks,

Kyle

PM me your team viewer details.

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

Deepak Gupta was able to get the macro working for me by doing a remote desktop session and editing the macro and changing the 2017 references to 2016. The macro now works as intended, and is a good workaround.

Re: Save Configurations in eDrawings

I could not find any settings related issue. SO it could be the Win 10, education version or Win KB issue.

But macro worked as needed.
