The problem is that the drawings was made with AMVIEWS, and these AMVIEWS cannot be imported into SolidWorks. Someone can help me about this issue? First of all, I cannot locate the icon on the Assembly Toolbar, but I can get to it through Insert, Assembly Feature, Hole, Wizard. Then after completing the hole type and parameters selection, I click Next. At this point I am unable enter dimensions for location because no Hole Placement dialog box pops up. If I click an approximate location for the hole, I am unable to change anything. Other times I am simply unable activate a point – the mouse behaves as if I did not click. What can you do to

swfileconv.arx I was wondering what is happening to my system. I'm not very knowledgeable or where to turn go to solve my poblem. Here's my problem (I hope anyone here can help me I'm running Autocad2000 on a Windows XP operating system; I've installed a software program called NC Polaris (it runs within Autocad by creating icons and menus in Autocad). Well, I already have a set of stereo LCD shutter glasses (only cost me $50) and I also have located a head tracker, with both location and angle information, and it costs under $100 [ http://www.cymouse.com ]. So, the days of dirt-cheap Virtual Reality are finally here! ... Well, at least they could be, if only the software and hardware could be made to work together. I've not come across a solution yet. Perhaps someone here will be able to refer me to a set of hardware/software which will allow

I haven't really fooled around with Animator much, and I'm having problems setting it to do the most basic thing for the particular assembly I'm trying to animate. It's probably something I don't understand, and I hope someone will see that and clue me in. I've got 8 spur gears within an internal-tooth gear ring. 7 of the spur gear instances are a component pattern, and I'm trying to drive them all by moving the seed component. I've got my Mates set up so that I can easily move the seed

The use of an environment is critical in renderings to create proper reflections: http://www.triaxialdesign.com/...&Tricks%20AUG-2004.pdf The ability to control custom maps makes all the difference in being able to present a shiny product the way you want it. We are well into a project that has to be delivered in 2005. The renderings work great in 2004, but fail because of a series of critical errors in 2005. If this is not corrected PhotoWorks will immediatley cost us thousands of dollars and a

PhotoWorks Wish List 1. Batch render; so you can save views and camera settings and then hit render all the views at once so you can go to lunch come back and the renderings are ready to be made into a composition in photoshop 2. More realistic lighting between front view and isometric perspective view , when the light is right in the perspective view and you go to the front everything is always very bright 3. Brushed aluminum that looks like brushed aluminum

I can't think of a good reason to keep the default. ok, well there is that very rare moment when you want to gradually reveal your greatest design ever to on-lookers. And having a clean screen to watch the drama build as you all watch the image, born from your soul, gradually come to fruition bucket by bucket as angels sing in the background of your mind. It can be a special moment. Of course, you could just render to jpeg and have a lot more control in something as cheesy as Powerpoint.

I like Rob's idea of having the option in the save dialog box like "edrawing data". It's kind-of like the Pack-and-Go function, but easier and more foolproof. Maybe on a similar line of thinking to solve Ed's pet peeve...on the File Open dialog box have an option to "not load or search for PW items". >The next person to open the file gets a barage of file not found errors.

Hey, did you guys see the little macro in the other forum? Someone created a utility to turn off the feature manager and resize the active view to any specific pixel size. If you knew the size of your background, you can tell SW to size exactly to those values. I thought I might take a run at adding a dialog box to the macro to save the current setting, make dynamic changes and restore the default. What do you think?

Spherical environment Spherical environment Rob, We weren't able to find any way to control the mapping outside of manipulating the original image. To see how it was mapped we had to make a model of a chrome ball and render it. As I recall, the seam of the image (where left meets right) is front and center, which seemed like an odd choice because ti then becomes mandatory that you make your image perfectly wrap. If the seam was at the rear you could get away with some fast and dirty backgrounds

Rob, I think that what we are doing is the correct solution. The background image does not have any relationship (distance) to the scene or objects in the scene. If we include it in the DOF we would know how much to blur it. The work around, of course, is to pre-blur it in PhotoShop and load it as a blurry image. Regards Mark Biasotti SolidWorks

Viewing Software Viewing Software Viewing Software Does anyone have a good recommendation for software our sales guys can use to open view and print CAD drawings? I would prefer something free or very inexpensive. Mostly needed for .dwg and .dxf files. I don't want anything with a lot of special features. Honestly, open, view and print might be too dangerous for our sales guys. If they could just double click the file and it opens, that would be perfect. Hey, they are some of the best sales guys

Question about file search order Marlon, I would suggest setting up the search order putting priority on intelligent actions executed by the user. If the user made no actions, then the dumb software kicks in 1. Use materials embedded in the model. 2. Use the current model/assembly folder if this is indeed the 'pack and go' location. If I 'packed and went', I did it for a reason. If I didn't want to use those materials I'd drag into a sub-folder or delete them.
