I keep failing my attempts to dimension a route drawing, 'cause the location of the sketch doesn't match where it should be

Any ideas why this thing is happening?

Re: Routing & drawing: dimension issue

I would suggest adding "View Orientations" to match the viewing angles you need to show..

Re: Routing & drawing: dimension issue

I have a few custom orientations, but maybe that is part of the problem.

I just want to show the vertical length of the route...

Madson Germano

I would create a direct view and add the dimensions in that view, then it will show correctly/

Re: Routing & drawing: dimension issue

Do you mean like a standard orientation? (Front, left, etc)

If so, I'd rather not, 'cause the drawing is to guide our guys in field to better understand the path of the route

Re: Routing & drawing: dimension issue

No - You would need to make a "New" View based on how the field guys would find the coordinates for the dimensions in the field....

You mean something like this? (roughly)

Re: Routing & drawing: dimension issue

Kind of - Each of the sections should have a direct view as in

That's what I was thinking..  However, that type of installation is tough for the installers if there aren't any wall protrusion points or support beams etc...

Re: Routing & drawing: dimension issue

I see your point.

But it would be great if just SW cooperate and pick the sketch line were it is displayed...

Re: Routing & drawing: dimension issue

Really tough to do when working with 3D sketches....  I would suggest to do all the points in 2D complete with planes and sketch points....  takes a little more to get used to working that way, but at the end of the day when you're doing the drawings, your life just got a whole lot easier, plus it's easier for the field installers...

Re: Routing & drawing: dimension issue

Do you have an example of what would you consider to be a neat drawing?
