SOLIDWORKS has always been a customer-driven product. Enhancements to SOLIDWORKS products are driven from feedback obtained through direct customer research, analysis of our many internal databases of customer information, reviewing feedback from our many public forums and, of course perhaps most importantly, direct customer request for enhancements – like the ideas submitted to the The Top Ten List – 3DEXPERIENCE World 2024. Earlier this year, EngineersRule.com, featured a blog post about this

The General Sessions that spans over three days at 3DEXPERIENCE World always bring a jam-packed lineup of technology, engineering marvels, and motivational keynote speakers. At 3DEXPERIENCE World 2024 in Dallas, the tech marketing team put together a demo that you just can’t miss, intended to highlight some of the upcoming features to be released later in the year and next year’s version of SOLIDWORKS. This year, the team put the audience’s mystery-solving expertise to the test by following a

Excitement was in the air in Dallas as we collectively kicked off 3DEXPERIENCE World 2024. General sessions began with a welcome greeting from Gian Paolo Bassi, Senior Vice President of 3DEXPERIENCE Works, who drove onto the stage in a classic Shelby Cobra that retrofitted to be a fully electric car. GP reminded the crowd of 4,700 attendees from over 30 countries that 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of this event. Next up we welcomed Bernard Charles, Dassault Systemes Executive Chairman of the

My name is Kirby Downey. I am a Senior Production Technician at 3DPRINTUK. I am a maker, a creator in my spare time, and also a SOLIDWORKS User Group Leader and a SOLIDWORKS champion. These last two titles I have 3DEXPERIENCE World to thank, because if I didn’t attend these events since 2017, then I would not be so involved with the SOLIDWORKS community.

In this blog series I initially posed the question: why are we still using 2D drawings in a digital world where 3D data is the primary source of communication? In part one I explored the use of 2D drawings and 3D models, the benefits of each in modern-day engineering and manufacturing, and how companies can implement both 2D and model-based definition (MBD) workflows in part two. In part three here, I want to discuss how the Manufacturing Definition Creator role and its xDrawing app can address

Every year at 3DEXPERIENCE World, the thing we look most forward to is meeting our users face to face. Certainly one of our favorites this year was meeting Eric Timmons, an engineer and SOLIDWORKS user, and his wife, Erika, who together created a 28-video series for Black History Month, featuring many black engineers and some of their many historic accomplishments in engineering. The couple owns two companies: Black Hand Design, an industrial and mechanical design firm, and E5Productions, a

At SOLIDWORKS, we are honored to have so many long-time SOLIDWORKS users who are always ready and willing to lend a hand to other users so they can continue to grow and succeed. It is for this reason that we started this blog series to shine the light on a few of these tireless SOLIDWORKS Superheroes. Our first feature in this series was an interview with the man who seems to sleep fast so he can get back to work and help SOLIDWORKS users around the world: Eric Beatty. You can read that blog

Now that we’re all back in the real world after a whirlwind trip to Nashville for 3DEXPERIENCE World, we can take what we’ve learned and put it into action. Hopefully you caught one of my sessions on 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS, but hopefully you did not catch me and my silly moves on the dance floor. Though I really did enjoy the line dancing. Since we were all wrapped up at World mid-February you may not know that we also announced the latest update, R2023x FD01, for 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS.

Inquiring minds want to know what would it mean if you had more time for design? Last fall we had a chance to engage with some of our SOLIDWORKS users to try to better understand the challenges many of you are experiencing during your workday – where you are getting bogged down by low-value tasks, and even more importantly, what it would mean if we could wave a magic wand, and lighten your load so you actually have more time for design work.

Over the last several years our lives have changed significantly and abruptly. We all collectively fully understand the realities of not being together as a result of pandemic-related changes. How we live and work, has changed forever. A lot of us pivoted to remote work, adapting to new ways of engaging with our respective teams and finding best practices to remain productive.

SOLIDWORKS LIVE has been dedicated to showcasing the best of our software use cases and, inherently, our user community for years now. Over the past several months, we’ve put 1+ hours each into doing both of those things within subject areas like design, simulation, data management, manufacturing, and more! But, particularly for those four areas, we did our best to deliver an instructive, compelling episode for each key CAD/CAE software domain listed. This blog is a round-up of sorts, cataloging
