This tutorial was inspired by mine and my husband’s love of Paris, and of course macarons! So, I decided to use the 3DEXPERIENCE platform’s xShape app to design and model a macaron. The model was then exported as a STEP file and imported into SOLIDWORKS for further editing. If you want to follow the tutorial and see how I added the custom lettering with a DXF file, you can download it here.

My name is Kirby Downey. I am a Senior Production Technician at 3DPRINTUK. I am a maker, a creator in my spare time, and also a SOLIDWORKS User Group Leader and a SOLIDWORKS champion. These last two titles I have 3DEXPERIENCE World to thank, because if I didn’t attend these events since 2017, then I would not be so involved with the SOLIDWORKS community.

Have you ever spent hours of time searching for the perfect or standard 3D component but end up with a low quality, poor true dimension product? If so, you’re not alone. Many users struggle with finding & inserting 3D components from various sources. Some resources charge you for the 3D model where other resources are free but may not be trustworthy.

Use surfacing techniques to create custom blends where fillets produce undesireable results. Remove unwanted faces from a model using the Delete Face command. Use Face Curves and sketches to create a trimming boundaries. Trim faces to form a clean boundary for the blend. Use the Filled Surface command to create a surface tangent to all adjacent faces. Use Knit Surface to combine the surface bodies in the model. Use Thicken to transform the surfaces into solid geometry.

To get myself into the festive mood, I decided to model some treats for Santa, and in the process, demonstrate some uses for the thread, intersect and sweep features. The decal used on the milk bottle is available to download here. The festive plate seen in the rendering below can be found in a previous tutorial which you can follow here. Rendering your models with extra parts can increase the realism or add more for the viewer to look at, this is something I keep in mind when I create my

There are over seven million SOLIDWORKS users across the world. A number that big can be hard to visualize and comprehend. SOLIDWORKS users could fill 116 NFL stadiums or 1,000 of the world’s largest cruise ships! As an active SOLIDWORKS user, you probably want to network with other users.

This tutorial is inspired by my newborn son River. I wanted to design something I would love to be able to buy and pop into his bedroom. So, I designed this river themed turtle projector with river themed wildlife and water symbols cut out of the turtle’s shell. I used this as a vessel to showcase animating light colors and environments, and animating parts within the model to create the moving projector.

There’s the expression of soup-to-nuts but I would really like to introduce you to our latest SOLIDWORKS Superhero User who does everything from flowers to donuts – with SOLIDWORKS! I’m very pleased to share that I had the opportunity to grab some time with our SOLIDWORKS Champion of the Year, Dani Petrova-Nikolova! Dani has shown time and time again to the world that not only does she know SOLIDWORKS in-and-out, but she has a genius-like creative skill to go well beyond the typical grey “blobs”

For this fun and spooky themed plush toy which I modeled entirely within the 3DExperience platforms xShape app, found in the 3D Sculptor role. I’m going to break down the steps I took to model, export and render my product. I don’t show you the full modeling steps, but I do go through the xShape Design Manager for the model and I open up some of my sub-d surfaces and features to explain my process. Starting with xShape, you can see the main apple shape with the stick was created with one just
