Next month, thousands will participate in the ancient Hindu festival of Chhath Pooja or Chhath Puja. The festival honors Surya, the Sun God and his wife Usha (Chhathi Maiya). The festival is celebrated in the Indian states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, providences in Nepal, and other Asian communities. Chhath Pooja is also celebrated in the United States by Indian Americans.
