How does one set up a text box on a drawing sheet that can be populated without going to sheet format? Yes I have read a few posts on similar topics and yes I could set up a text box in the drawing custom properties and to link the field in the title block and fill it out in the custom properties task pain but as I understand the drawing custom properties links only to all the sheets in a drawing file and not to the individual sheet in view. The reason I want to do this is I have a main assembly
I was searching for weldment ability to OFFSET from the path segment. I am new to Solidworks. In Inventor it has the ability to OFFSET from the path segment. So, there is no need to create another path segment.
i have seen some annoying behavior and i think i've seen this in 2014 as well as 2017 that i'm using now. the assembly consists of several sheet metal parts, all of which have a "flat pattern" configuration. as we all know when we turn a sheet metal part into a flat pattern it creates a sketch that defines the border and bend lines. typically this sketch is only visible and active while in the "flat pattern" configuration. now my issue is that i open the higher level assembly and all of these
Yep, it's definitely possible............ Actually instead of rings, I have helix that I want to make a circular pattern of 16 helix. But I don't know how to make the image of one coil and arrange them in a circular pattern like in the figure you shown.
We normally use "bend deduction". The issue we face is that sometimes "bend allowance" or another process is selected. So in attempt to review this post and maybe "bump" the message, must have toggled assumed answered.
In the process of Drawing Automation using Solidworks vb.net API we are facing one major hurdle regarding dimensioning. For the drawing automation we are generating the drawings using a pre-drafted drawing of a parametric 3D Model. However, when the 3D Part/Assembly gets updated in Solidworks, the views get updated as required but the dimensions are misplaced/ overlapped on each other (Please refer below Screenshots).
I'm trying to have these highlighted semicircle extrusions (supposed to be representing hot glue) removed from this assembly. Also, just on a side note is there a reason why only one entity of this two entity extrusion mirrors over? I feel like I have done the plane correct.
I really like the pop-up context toolbars but find it frustrating that they disappear when you roll the mouse off of the toolbar. If I'm designing at a quick pace, it's not uncommon that I'll move the mouse a bit further than intended then I have to make the selection all over again to get it to come back Tags:none(add)context toolbar
So that ,the user can select the entity when the distance between cursor and entity is less than PickRadius. Jive Software Version: 2018.10.0.1_jx, revision: 20181102150941.22e8dc7.release_2018.10.0-jx
I'm working with a large assembly and after I rebuild the entire assembly turns red. Rebuilding again does not revert the colors back to normal. Closing out of SW and reopening shows the assembly with the proper coloring, but as soon as I rebuild again everything turns red. Any thoughts?
depends on what you want to automate => scan folder => open assembly => get parts? or do you have an assembly opened in SW and you want dump part information to excel. In first case look atdocumentmanagerin second2017 SOLIDWORKS API Help - Traverse Assembly at Component and Feature Level Example (VBA)
Change states Not well versed in PDM Professional, I prematurely changed the state of a drawing from released to revised. Is there any way I can recall/resend, take that back to the original previous released state?
Why...does SolidWorks, when I initiate a cut, more often than not go away from the part and give me the "intended cut does not intersect the model?? If the software knows where the model is, why doesn't it default to the valid direction??
I have a solidworks exam in a little while and I can not for the life of my figure out why my parts mass is over by about 200 grams. I will attach the file in a sec, currenty typing on mac. Here is the part that I made along with the drawing I was given.
create layers that are more specific and other than what is listed in the drop down of the layers mapping window? Let me see....I think that it is ctrl click and then you can select the balloons and then change them in the property manager. The layer thing should be about the same....I have never needed to use layers on my drawings....but they are there to use as you see fit.
Begin by doing a Countersunk hole and then customize it to match your Center Drill, it may take some playing around, but doesn't take too long to master. Have used @Michael Closson's designs and updated them to configurable library features of all center drill sizes.
Multi-Body Part with split parts, individual parts/drawings won't update. Hello, I am having trouble making my split parts (which come from a multibody part) update. I created a part that has a few features that need to be updated, once I make these updates they do not reflect on the individual part its self.
