We’ve learned so much about how to shape models in SOLIDWORKS Apps for Kids over the past few months, it’s time to put it all together! Not everything you want to make can be done with a single body; sometimes using multiple bodies and simply overlapping them is the best way to get what you want. Today we’re going to learn how to make an airplane in the Shape It app by building and overlapping bodies.

We’re reaching the moon’s orbit! The submission date for the SOLIDWORKS xDesign Challenge for FRC Teams is Friday, December 7. Intern Eamon made a helpful video listing the files to be included in submissions and how to submit. Teams have until December 7, 2018 to design and submit their moon landers.

I recently took a trip to visit some of the schools I work in Montana to discuss their STEM Program. One of the schools I visited called Billings Career Center, a Career, and Technical education-focused school, had an exciting project they worked on with NASA using our STEM in a BOX program. The teacher and his students designed parts in SOLIDWORKS, then 3D printed prototypes, and machined the final versions. They then sent the finished versions to NASA.
