Hi, I'm doing an exercise with SolidWorks, but I'm facing this problem: the perimeter of my geometry is not respected by the program. It uses referiments that are out of my part. It doesn't identify the correct edges of my solid. What can I do?

Understand the difference between starting a sketch on a plane or planar face. Create the first 2D sketch profile on a reference plane. Create additional 2D sketch profiles on planar model faces of the part.

Use sketch relations and dimensions to fully define a sketch. Understand the status of a sketch, either under defined, fully defined, or over defined. Evaluate a sketch to determine why it is under defined.

Use automatic sketch relations to capture design intent as you sketch a profile. Identify the icons that appear on the cursor to signify automatic sketch relations. Create a sketch profile and add automatic sketch relations as you sketch.

It's known that the mathematical connection of a spline is a polynom. Is it possible to know what is the order of the spline's polynom that SolidWorks uses? Is it constant order or change from one spline sketch to another?

I just sketched a rectangle, it came in with equal relations making it square. I must have sketched a zillion rectangles so guess was bound to happen one day. It's a bit fiddly to do by eyeball.

Input dimension value stopped working Input dimension value stopped working middle of sketching. I checked options, it's still checked.

Previous behaviour in SolidWorks was that when making a Hole Wizard (ie, counterbore, tapped hole), in the positioning sketch you could use Sketch Linear Pattern to lay out the points. I would arbitrarily pick an axis (usually the default one selected) and just enter the quantity of holes, then define the remainder of the geometry with conventional sketch relations and dimensions. Somewhere in the past few versions of SolidWorks, this changed, and now its like it is "fully defined" from the

why we can changetangent weighting handle in spline manually separately but when we use of smart dimension its not possible to define two separate dimension for each side? ,tangent weighting

Hi guys, thanks for viewing my question. I have the following design, in which I've come to the conclusion that there's a sketch (highlighted) that I'd like to `break out` and use as a starting point in multiple other designs, whilst keeping the parametric reference to the original sketch in this design. How can I do this?

I am an adult student at a Solidworks / Machining class. I'm about 4 weeks in with zero prior experience. I am having trouble with getting XY coordinates on contour parts. My intent is to insert the coordinates onto a program using notepad, then load into Haas control panel simulator.

extrude the profile shape about the midplane. create a split line using said midplane. draw your cut profile on bisecting plane and use the split line as your path. Hello Eric,... maybe a Sweep around a Tri Path..? (image/file attached)

I often find I am making both horizontal and vertical dimensions between to points, usually for hole centers. is there a way to do this at once instead of having to click: ,selecting dimensions

I have a sketch on the front plane like the one in the attached image. I want to rotate with various angles the four half circles (see the picture) about the axes AB, BC, CD and DA, respectively, in the 3D space, not the front plane. How can I do it?

I have a DXF file with a lot of double sketch lines. Is there a way (command) to delete all double lines instead of selecting all the lines manually? Re: Deleting all double lines?

I'm trying to interpolate a plane based upon 4 points in 3d space. I'm trying to model something for this, without success so far. Will the points create a flat plane?

I am an absolute beginner trying to do this tutorial thinking it would just take me an hour:http://learnsolidworks.com/tutorials/01_PROPELLER_TUTORIAL.pdf Then I realized creating the 3 point rectangle and putting in the right place cannot be done intuitively, atleast according to my inferior intuition...

I have a sketch with different colors and multiple line thicknesses. All looks good when editing the sketch, but after saving the sketch, the line thickness disappears, so it the colors. Both only appear in edit sketch mode.
