This year’s SAE AERO Design West competition took place in the heart of the USA, nestled right in Fort Worth Texas. Students from all around the world and from different walks of life, filled the hotel lobby with propellers, DC motors, and aerodynamic fuselages, as they marched their planes in and out of the judges’ arena. One of my clients is using solidworks sustainability to estimate the life cycle assessment, especially, on carbon footprint. He also invite us to verify the carbon footprint according to a British standard, PAS 2050. However, the standard strictly requires the carbon footprint calculation should using the latest IPCC’s GWP value as environment impact factors.
