Submodel clarification I have a few questions that I am hoping someone can answer concerning some "odd" behavior I am noticing in SOLIDWORKS 2018 when running Static submodels with No Penetration contact sets:

I'm trying to model a viscoelastic material. A convenient way of doing this seems to be to input a relaxation curve and let SW calculate the various constants. So, as I understand it I should input a curve of relaxation modulus vs. time as shown below:

I plan to put in an enhancement request for Reverse Path so it works for suppressing/unsuppressing mates, but I'm only on SW2016. Can someone with SW2018 check if this has been fixed already? Most of the few motion studies I do go out and back, often with one part assigned a series of different tangent mates as it gets pushed this way and that, like a cam but more 3D.

Whenever I run animation, the RPM and all the linkages run smooth, but if I try basic motion, there is a whole lot of red. What I'm trying to do is run a motion analysis, which I can, but the RPM is no where near what I set it to. Once the motion analysis is complete I wish to see the velocity of a point to compare to my analytical calculations. I attached my files, but can't figure out why this won't work.

I built two different wedge system models, varying only by a slight difference in the angle of the wedges, and ran a static test to obtain the stress plots. I want to compare the stresses by fitting the colored data bars to take into consideration both stress plots. Below are images of the stress plots of both models, in which I would like their data bars to match:

Re: Young's modulus and poison ratio Unlike yield strength which can change drastically with temper and alloy (assuming you are talking about a metal), Poisson's ratio and Modulus of Elasticity are much more consistent between "family" of materials. So if you cannot find a direct source, I would consider copying Poisson's ratio and Modulus of Elasticity from the most similar material you can find data for to get in the right ballpark.

The task is to simulate the thermal situation of an industrial camera with flow simulation 2018. At the moment I´m not really sure if i need radiation in my simulation. In most of the turorial they say if the temperature is not realy high I can ignore the radiation. My first simple calculation and simulations are showing someting different.

Thank youJanko Stellaard, This seems like a good idea! I tried to do that, but I can't find where to define the time period. I defined the wind speed to change in X and Y direction using a 3d vector with time dependency, so that it should go 360 second for 360 degrees but the analysis keeps ending after 0.4 seconds.

hi i have a part that i want to use in a nonlinear static study. the part is made of an elastomer (room temperature vulcanized). i apply a load on the edge and i fix the other end. the study shows a warning that theAssembled Stiffness Matrix has a negative diagona and later it fails showing the message in the picture i have attached. i used fine curvature based mesh with a growth ratio of 1.2 for the part as it has some very small faces, and large problem direct sparce solver. i noticed that the

I am performing a simulation where I will have a steel bar be pulled across the inner surface of two wedges. I am experimenting with coefficients of friction (no penetration contact) between the inner surfaces of the wedges and the surface of the rod. For the sake of experimentation, would it be possible to create a friction gradient across the surfaces?

I have a need to simulate a heating element inside of an airtight enclosure. The objective is to measure the internal air temperature at a certain location after a certain time. As far as I understand, the thermal study tool in simulation professional does not allow a user to do this sort of measurement.

Im curious to know how to interpret a buckling analysis in which the graph shows buckling on a scale of 1:1 (can be seen in the image below, but the load factor is almost 3000. I doubt it is the latter since the buckle appears near a 1/2" aluminium tube with 0.0625" thick walls. Theres a 5 kgf downward load and a 5 Nm torque on the part (right face), so I highly doubt that small tube can withstand anything near a 1000 kgf load.

I am using a transient thermal modelling but I am getting negative -273C on some surfaces despite I am setting the temperature to 25C for example? what I am doing wrong? A common issue I see in transient thermal analysis is that the initial temperature is only applied to the outside faces of the model.
