I am attaching an image of error happening with me quite frequently. I am also attaching DXF of this parts which shows extra lines. That makes sense because those floating dimensions are not dangling.

Can you upload the file for further investigation? Typically, bends should only be applied to straight edge geometry. Some curved geometry will allow edge flanges to be created, but not the curved edges (or faces) created with a lofted bend. The rip where the curved geometry will be made square to meet the edge flange cannot be calculated, and is therefore not allowed.

I have a sheet metal component that I have created. It is a converted sheet metal part - which I don't normally do (I usually just draw it in sheet metal). After inserting the part into the drawing and turning on the bend lines - I have no bend notes and the option for them to be displayed is greyed out in the property box.

i have seen some annoying behavior and i think i've seen this in 2014 as well as 2017 that i'm using now. the assembly consists of several sheet metal parts, all of which have a "flat pattern" configuration. as we all know when we turn a sheet metal part into a flat pattern it creates a sketch that defines the border and bend lines. typically this sketch is only visible and active while in the "flat pattern" configuration. now my issue is that i open the higher level assembly and all of these

We normally use "bend deduction". The issue we face is that sometimes "bend allowance" or another process is selected. So in attempt to review this post and maybe "bump" the message, must have toggled assumed answered.

I want to create the part that I attach, which basically is a cut strip bent as a cone. First strip that I did with another radius and profile angle came out perfectly, but this second strip just won't work. I want to be able to unfold the part, add some holes and then fold it back again, but I get the error message "This part contains features that cannot be unbent", even without the holes. It seems like there is a limit to what solidworks can create, because just adjusting the base line in "

I have bee trying to find a way to get everything about a single piece of sheet metal to be a single choice. For example, If I have an existing design that is 12 gauge carbon steel, and I need to edit that to 1/8" aluminum. I want that change to be a single choice.

Hello, I'm looking for some input on batch exporting sheet metal parts as dwg flat patterns. Has anyone created a macro for this? I tried just recording a macro in 2010 SP2.1, but it didn't work out so hot. An automated process for this would be very helpful for us because we generally have 50+ flats we have to create at a time for a job.

I am having trouble modeling a part as a sheet metal part. I am able to model the part as a regular 3D part but can't convert it. At first I tried modeling the part flat then applying the necessary bends. the part that I'm having trouble with is correctly bending the side wall up the also bending a ridge up within the bent side walls. I have attached a PDF (image) of the 3D part, the 3D file and a sheet metal version of the part.

I've got a sheet metal problem. My part has radius bends that terminate in mitered corners. When I flatten the part, the flat pattern does not properly adjust the edge for the bend. I sketched in red what the edges more or less should look like.

I need to make a cylinder that's 40" long and 52" o.d and put a 15degree cut through it as though its been cut with a saw after being rolled. When I do the extruded cut from a generated plane the cylinders rolled part isn't a true "saw" cut. Its more of a slopped cope. So when the part is flattened to be cut and rolled it wouldn't be a true miter.

Before I started at this position someone created this part by modeling it - not as a sheet metal part. There is a model created for the bent part and another model of the flattened part. I don't have a lot of experience with SW sheet metal and I am trying to create the part as a sheet metal part. My problem is the 20 degree jog.

I've got sheet metal parts. They're not weldments. It's real nice that SW does the Cut-List for them. I can FINALLY get the flat blank to auto-update on the print by referencing one of the fields in there.

The extended faces on the lower flange stay put, and I'm stuck with a weird looking offset in my lower flanges. If I add those lower faces to the "Faces to Match" field in the Closed Corner command, the result doesn't change. Likewise if I engage the "Auto Propagation" option.
