SOLIDWORKS Dana Hall Career Day 8th Graders from Dana Hall When most of us were kids, Career Day meant impatiently jiggling our legs under our desks, while Tommy Y.’s dad droned on about selling insurance, only to be followed by Laura V.’s mom trying to get us amped up on accounting. On January 12, the 8th grade class at Dana Hall had an entirely different experience. They had, you might say, a 3DEXPERIENCE. Organized and led by User Experience Design Senior Manager Chinloo Lama, the group of

Fruit flies are one of the keys for biologists to unlock the secrets behind human genetics, as well as understanding disease, behavior, neuroscience and more. For more than 100 years, scientists have used Drosophila as a model organism to learn about genes, disease, behavior, neuroscience, and more. But in the course of their work, there is a great deal of tedious, manual labor required to classify and sort each fly by physical characteristics such as sex and eye color. FlySorter LLC provides

Dereck Sanchez, a rising junior in high school, has been working with his team, R4 Robotics, for all of seven years now; but the most impressive part is that he’s only seventeen years old. His team joins many BEST Robotics competitions every year, which last approximately six weeks long each. At the age of eleven, he started learning SOLIDWORKS so his team could brainstorm what they wanted the robot to look like before they would actually start creating it.

WiBotic has commercialized technology developed at The University of Washington to deliver wireless power and battery intelligence solutions for autonomous robots. These fully autonomous robots are able to navigate and “think” for themselves; but, there is a problem. Their batteries do not last very long and recharging stations with physical contacts wear out over time.
