With each release of SOLIDWORKS we focus on helping users work smarter, faster, and together.
The same goes for our SOLIDWORKS-connected roles, 3DEXPERIENCE® SOLIDWORKS and Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS, that connect your data to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and give you access to data management and collaboration capabilities in the cloud.
Connecting your data to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform adds a whole new level of working smarter, faster together. The latest releases build on that theme. With 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS and Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS R2022x FD04, you can access your content faster than ever, whether it’s stored locally or on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. There’s also a new Open dialog box and some other new enhancements that speed up collaboration. Let’s dive in.
This one boosts collaboration time by enabling project members who have the Product Structure Explorer App access to native SOLIDWORKS data. They can easily get the data from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and share it with other project stakeholders, such as vendors and manufacturers.
With the new Open dialog box, you can open content from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform with the 3D Search option or access content locally using the PC option. Both options are right at your fingertips in one convenient location so you can get to your content more quickly. You can also access your Bookmarks from this dialog box.
Duplicate a drawing in just one step with the ability to include reference drawings when using Save as New for assemblies or parts.
When navigating over an assembly structure, this feature will enable the user to reveal/show the drawings if any exist in the assembly.
You can now include a drawing with the “Include Linked Drawings” option under 2D formats using the Product Structure app. This gives you the ability to download derived outputs of an assembly along with its drawings for sharing internally or externally.
That sums it up for the enhancements for both 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS and Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS this round. However, there are a couple of things I want to point out that are new for Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS users that are already available in 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS. For instance, Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS users can now use the keyboard shortcut “CTL O” to open the Open dialog box and there is also a new “Save to 3DEXPERIENCE” option in the Save To dialog box.
