I am happy to interview my colleague, Andre Kouyoumdjian, after a personal trip to Armenia. Andre got to visit with our SOLIDWORKS value added reseller, EngineerX and congratulate his personal family friend, Vahe Nigoghosian. Vahe put in years of sweat and hard work to develop a company and get this amazing achievement accomplished – the first SOLIDWORKS Reseller in Armenia.
Andre has traveled to Armenia 3 times. In 2021 he helped establish the first ever SOLIDWORKS User Group (SWUG) in Armenia. In 2022, he met with all the university and higher education deans to establish rapport. And last month he helped with the EngineerX reseller launch event.
Ambassadors from multiple countries (or representation if the actual ambassador was not in the country), deans from the universities, CEO’s from major Armenian companies and people from the Armenian government attended the launch event.
EngineerX is now the first Armenian owned and operated SOLIDWORKS reseller in Armenia. Andre stated, “For some, this might not seem like a big deal, but for others, they realize how crucial representation like this will be, to put Armenia back on the map in the global stage of engineering.”
Although a small country, Armenia’s history is rich in culture, science and mathematics. Many inventions from Armenians have changed the world.
Andre started his career at SOLIDWORKS at age 18 working out of the Concord, MA office. For 23 years he has been a diehard fan of what SOLIDWORKS stands for and knows how impressive the SOLIDWORKS User Community is. He has had the pleasure of working with and alongside some of the most innovative companies in the world, using our tools to make humanity a better place.
And the connection? Andre grew up in an Armenian household, his first language was Armenian, even though his family lived in America. He went to an Armenian Catholic school in Lexington, MA and from the day he was born, he had an image of Armenia in his head and never thought he would visit the country where his mother was from.
In 2021, events changed and Andre visited Armenia. He fell in love with the country of his heritage. His friend Vahe had established an engineering services business in Armenia. Andre met with the the EngineerX team and knew the potential was limitless.
So with that visit, began a journey, to help establish the first ever SOLIDWORKS reseller in Armenia and to help grow the educational path and support Armenia’s elite engineering talent.
Andre couldn’t be prouder of the work that EngineerX team has done to make this dream become a reality, but there is more work to do.
Andre stated, “We can certainly enjoy this achievement for today, but tomorrow is around the corner. The entire EngineerX team has a game plan, investing time and money to build something that will surely grab the attention of the engineering world for years to come.”
Introducing EngineerX Edu
EngineerX Edu works to develop young engineering talent in Armenia. The team has partnered with the best educational institutions to help provide guidance, training, and internships. Two times a year, EngineerX brings in a new team of interns to help get ready for the global engineering workforce. They provide students with training and give them the chance to collaborate with the most senior engineers on current projects.
After the SOLIDWORKS reseller launch event in Armenia, Andre and Vahe got an opportunity to talk about business and education on an Armenian morning TV show.
Our newest SOLIDWORKS Reseller believes the future of engineering in Armenia and across the world, is in the minds of its children and young adults today. EngineerX wants to do whatever is in its power to help foster that enthusiasm and propel students into the global market.
