Better way of solving 2 axis setup

All you need is a SOLIDWORKS ID, or a new or existing 3DEXPERIENCE ID.
I have a mechanically related question. I am drawing a steel rod that I want to be adjustable using slots in two axis direction. Is there a better way to solve this? I used 3 plates in order to solve it, the rod welded to the first plate
