Re: SWX and Fashion Design

I'll admit I don't know anything about the fashion industry, but I can't imagine why they'd need a mechanical engineer, and I'm also surprised that the ad uses the word "topest", and doesn't capitalize Toronto.

I don't want to sound too discouraging, but I'd advise caution.

Do you say it is a bogus industry?

I don't know for sure, but I think there's a chance that's a bogus advertisement.  I'm not saying you should ignore it, but be cautious.

Re: SWX and Fashion Design

What is the reason for bogus advertisement? Very rarely I can see under the ad "Employer is 75% responsive" of course this employer will definitely responsive to the resume.

I agree with Glenn that this job ad could be spam.

As least the phone number kinda work:

Even got a web site:

I believe it'll be difficult to design clothing in SWX or any CAD software.

There are no straight lines.  Everything is curve, spline and surface.

Parametric?  Equation curves?

If you don't have a job, go try it out.

You'll learn something.

I have not designed clothing in SW but should not be issue and also SW and few of it's partner tools are being used to extract the flat pattern for clothing. Like ExactFlat which is is significantly made for these kinds of industries.

BTW the address is residential.  Not an office building.

Re: SWX and Fashion Design

I would think that the position is for designing equipment/tools for production and not actually designing clothes.

Re: SWX and Fashion Design

As far as I know only cloth button can designed by SWX by using mold tools.

From my experience with designers, they know exactly what they want but never able to tell other and it may not be manufactureable.

'Its 232.883355 inches.  It won't looks right if you're off.'

They're challenging to work with but it'll really push your skills and patient

Re: SWX and Fashion Design

At least with those prices you should be able to get a decent pay packet out of them   $905 for a long sleeve t-shirt!?
