CSWP Exam Preperation

Is there Assembly & Collision analysis included on the CSWP? The sample exam is broken into 3 segments listing that it is covered, but the Test questions section doesn't cover either of these subjects.

Re: CSWP Exam Preperation

I just took my cswa and I saw this problem there too. The real test had items I never even knew existed in SW and I went thru the entire prep course from SW.  ( all 100% so I can take the test for free)

I think the only way to find out since I do not have access to the cswp prep courses is to take the real exam and see what I need to study, then wait and retake the test.

Re: CSWP Exam Preperation

Hello,

For me, from segment one of the CSWP to the CSWE, the topics listed for each exam are what I was tested on. No more. No less.

It even says so.

The SW tidbits at the bottom is just a general listing of what you may use to accomplish the exam's listed "challenges".

Practice these challenges thoroughly and ignore anything that doesn't aid in completing these.

Pace your exam time for 2/3 testing, last 1/3 for review.

Search the forum for more exam tips as this topic has surfaced numerous times.

Cheers,

Kevin

Ryan,

Kevin Chandler's response is dead on - SOLIDWORKS is nice enough to lay it all out for you, use this for your prep work.

This is the number one thing that I recommend for people looking at getting certified. (Knowing everything on their "list.")

The number two thing is to double/triple check your work.

The number three thing is to be familiar with Global Variables - it won't be on the test, but it will make you more efficient when taking the test.

Re: CSWP Exam Preperation

Hey Kevin, Thanks, this is where I got my info from, was just surprised that the example in solidworks prep was just a part, and nothing to do with the assembly. Appreciate your time & advice!

Re: CSWP Exam Preperation

Hey Todd, Thanks for the tips! I've been using SW for ~20yrs. just now getting certified. But I don't use Global Variable, so I'll look into learning that before I take test.

Ryan,

One of the guys from the SWUG SCeNe User Group recorded my Certification presentation, and posted it in short video segments -

I discuss Global Variables, and show how they can help you save time.

Not sure how much this will help, but it is another resource.

Ryan,

I believe I have seen in the sample test literature (or heard on video courses of the CSWA and CSWP exams) that the Sample Test is based on only the first (of the 3) segment - it's just to give you an idea of the format and type of questions.  I have been planning to take the exam also but have so little time to study and practice these days.  I'd like to get the certification before SWW 2019, but I have a lot of things that I don't use and need to learn and practice first (like surfacing, 3D sketch, Weldments...).

Re: CSWP Exam Preperation

Yep never enough time, but right now my company has a contract that gives me unlimited access to testing, so I'm really going to try to fit it in. Hardest part is dedicating the time like 3hrs uninterrupted to the test. Good luck with yours.

Re: CSWP Exam Preperation

I wish I had the company give me unlimited testing.  Almost everything SWX related to training and testing (online videos and coarses, books, Linked-in learning, Pluralsight,) came out of my pocket.  They did pay for SWW2016 here in Dallas - but not even the travel to get there (train). I am hoping they will cover the conference cost for SWW2019 since it is back here in Dallas again.

The CSWA and CSWP are in 3 segments. You can take the CSWA segments at different times so you don't have to do a 3hr. marathon.  I am not sure if CSWP can be done a segment at a time, but I know if you fail a segment(s) of either CSWA or CSWP you can take that individual segment(s) again later - you don't need to take the entire test (3 segments) over - just what you didn't pass (same goes for the payment).

I have credits for the CSWP for 2 times so if I fail one or more segments I still have the credits to take it over - but there is a short waiting period.

If you take the CSWP and fail any segment you only need to take that segment over (and you only need to pay for that segment) - not the whole test or cost.

Ryan,

The nice thing about the new version of the CSWP exam is that it is broken into 3 parts.

The longest section is "only" 80 minutes, so just split it up!

Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional Exam | SOLIDWORKS

(I took it 13 years ago when they "locked" you in a room for 8 hours!)

It will go MUCH faster if you are fully prepared before you take each section - that way you can knock it out on the first try!

Good Luck!
