How many times do you see a great thread get trashed or hijacked for various reasons and I'll take the "Stand" and say I'm the worst for doing that.. So when I'm acting stupid tell me to trash it here, get it?? Rants - Cheers - Pet Peeves - or your Aunt Lilly, bring it.. (More then likely the dumbest thread anybody started, but I tried to keep it stupid, stupid) - The Forum Moderators rules still apply, no obscene pics, raunchy language and personal attacks, those will be reported and deleted if not changed...

(edited 9/13/2017 - Added link Request for Forum Etiquette - Added another link 9/21/2017 Forum filtering )

To Quote the Great Rick Becker.....

"When a perfectly valid and good question is asked, the thread gets a lot of great answers and some more questions. Once the questions has been answered to each persons (this includes you and me) satisfaction, we no longer need or want the discussion to continue.
We get the emails notifying us that another (and another and another and another...) post has been made and we get frustrated with the time wasting and we get snarky.

The other thing that seems to happen all too often is a post gets hijacked. The discussion moves off of the initial topic (ONE and TWO...) into many sub topics. Sometimes this happens and the initial question hasn't been totally answered."

Another Great Quote from Dennis Dohogne

"Hey, SWX guys and gals, what if we used THIS post for some of our more fun or tangential comments so we keep the other posts with more serious discussions from getting distracted/off-topic (polluted)?"

How about this from BMX'rerer Todd Blacksher

- In an effort to keep the posts somewhat on topic, and make it easy to pick out the "good information," a couple of us thought it would be a good idea to put in a water cooler. Are you completely confused? It's simple, if there is a thread where we are all helping someone find a solution, and it makes you think of something semi-related, you can say "Head over to "The Kitty Dump"

We need a good quote from Kelef Man to get it started.....

Save the Kitty Litter (Google) and Search with dogpile.com - the best search engine in town....

Any hiccups I'd contribute to the SW team testing it out.  Remember everyone, it's not officially available until the day after tomorrow, correct?

I think it was SWW 13 that we were in Orlando and the special event on Tuesday was going to Universal Studios where they had part of the park shut down just for us to use.

I remember this VIVIDLY - we would get off the roller coasters and SPRINT to get back in line!

The Harry Potter section was amazing, and the butter beer was delicious!

Definitely one of the best offsite events.

Some cool news to share. . .

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned on here about my oldest daughter, a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), helping a paraplegic to walk for the first time.  He took 15 steps that day and she and the staff were clapping and crying as they worked with him.

And yesterday my middle daughter, also a DPT and a Navy Lieutenant at Walter Reed Medical Center, told me she had a patient that was a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient and had a ship named after him.  (That is all the information I could get from her - no name of the patient (or the ship).)    How cool is that!?!?

THIS is the Kitty Dump, the place to put funny, divergent, off-topic, and digression posts without spoiling someone else's serious threads.

I'd just like to remind some of our frequent users that this is purposeful, to prevent garbage like is currently in Full-time Solidworks freelancer looking for projects thread. I'd rather see some professional respect in a thread specifically offering professional services. It's even categorized correctly as such in Job Postings. If *I* were Venakt, I would be quite displeased with what followed.

Please, put the poop in this box. Poop goes HERE. Thanks.

PS. I miss Helen too. Case in point. Funny goes here too.

In 2015, we had over 900 ideas; still Top Ten.

We did to Top Five one year.

Also, I'll be switching over to Voting at end of work day today; prolly a little early for West Coasters (maybe in time for their horrible commutes to be in full-effect), but should be after Eastern Seaboard starts cooking dinner. So, looks like Hawaii and Alaska will get first dibs.

When my dog poops where she shouldn't, she gets scolded in song so she knows she's in trouble. It seems somehow relevant in this moment.

Oh, we've got Trouble, right here in the hallway.

With a capital T which rhymes with P, and that stands for Poop. (That stands for Poop!)

Living in the Southeastern part of Pennsylvania all my life, sometimes I wonder where were our forefathers and what were they thinking.  Little did they know that a 100 years later their quaint little villages would become major attractions to people from all over the World and that the spin on names will have a very different outlook from way back when… There is also that remote chance that they had little access to maps and newspapers back in the day when it was just mainly little villages tucked in between mountains, sitting by little streams.

Today we can peruse the local maps and come up with some really weird directions/locations….

Like the guy needing to go from PottsVille to Buck, First he went to LeesPort, he had leave in a hurry because of FleetsWood, who gave him the bird in BirdsBoro, which made him change course rather quickly. He shouted for joy when he was on MtJoy and seen Elzabeth. He ended up going through ElizabethTown and her father reamed him out in the square of ReamsTown.  From there he met the Gap sisters, Marrieta and saw their LitTitz, and then he went to DowningTown, and after HoneyBrook took him through Blue Ball, he thought it was great going through Intercourse, of course it was just a Bird-In-Hand, but he ended up paying a Buck for entry into Paradise… Happy Hump Day

Bird in Hand, that must be a long ride Intercourse.

Leacock Leola Bare, wonder what happened there.

And we have Blue Ball again!

Now we know where all the Neff come from.

When my wife first visited me in PA, she saw signs on the turnpike that read, "Jim Thorpe turn here."

She asked me who's this Jim guy and why he needs signs to direct him home.

In Vermont on the side of the interstate there is a sign that reads "Entering Sharon".

In Massachusetts there is a sign along the highway that reads "Entering Lawrence".

There's a song called "Entering Marion", that goes through a lot of the different towns in that area. It's pretty funny. It's on one of the Dr. Demento collections.

We certainly don't have the same definition of ''beautiful'' lol.

I used to live in Montreal, found the city really ugly. It's awfully designed, a lot of pollution, and a bunch more.

I prefer small towns of around 30-50k. It's hard to describe, people are just generally more welcoming and are willing to help their neighbor more then in larger cities. I live in a really small one with 1500 inhabitants and everyone knows everyone and I love that. I can tell you there isn't many crimes commited in the town or everyone would know who did it.

I too love the outlying areas near https://www.quebecregion.com/en/businesses/attractions/natural-sites/parc-de-la-chute-montmorency/ , the small towns along the St. Lawrence are beautiful. Quebec City I really enjoyed visiting as well. Too cold in the winter for me, Connecticut is cold enough!

Voting tip, learned from past years.

Right now, votes are coming in fast and furious. I kinda feel bad for anyone with a legitimate problem or question they need a response on, as it'll quickly get buried in my view anyway. Current situation aside, though..

If your favorite idea (which you already voted for, natch) is buried by other activity, you can 'bump' it without adding a reply to it just by down voting and up voting again. Get more attention for your favorites.

I admit that this practice perpetuates the first concern above about a user seeking help while other actions bury their request.
