How many times do you see a great thread get trashed or hijacked for various reasons and I'll take the "Stand" and say I'm the worst for doing that.. So when I'm acting stupid tell me to trash it here, get it?? Rants - Cheers - Pet Peeves - or your Aunt Lilly, bring it.. (More then likely the dumbest thread anybody started, but I tried to keep it stupid, stupid) - The Forum Moderators rules still apply, no obscene pics, raunchy language and personal attacks, those will be reported and deleted if not changed...

To Quote the Great Rick Becker.....

"When a perfectly valid and good question is asked, the thread gets a lot of great answers and some more questions. Once the questions has been answered to each persons (this includes you and me) satisfaction, we no longer need or want the discussion to continue.
We get the emails notifying us that another (and another and another and another...) post has been made and we get frustrated with the time wasting and we get snarky.

The other thing that seems to happen all too often is a post gets hijacked. The discussion moves off of the initial topic (ONE and TWO...) into many sub topics. Sometimes this happens and the initial question hasn't been totally answered."

Another Great Quote from Dennis Dohogne

"Hey, SWX guys and gals, what if we used THIS post for some of our more fun or tangential comments so we keep the other posts with more serious discussions from getting distracted/off-topic (polluted)?"

How about this from BMX'rerer Todd Blacksher

- In an effort to keep the posts somewhat on topic, and make it easy to pick out the "good information," a couple of us thought it would be a good idea to put in a water cooler. Are you completely confused? It's simple, if there is a thread where we are all helping someone find a solution, and it makes you think of something semi-related, you can say "Head over to "The Kitty Dump"

We need a good quote from Kelef Man to get it started.....

It was a horrendous no-call, BUT if Sean Payton runs the ball three times instead of throwing it on 1st and 10 inside the 20 yard line then they don't have to rely on the officials. He's got a bad habit of overthinking the room and doing the opposite of the smart play. If you do that enough then that becomes your tendency and everyone expects it. At minimum the Rams would've had to use all of their time outs and they could have 20-30 seconds off the clock. Get a first down and it's game over.

Want to know what cost them the game?

Look at the 3.5 quarters of play BEFORE the call.

I know that Eagles fans don't believe the same, and I suppose many other fans of other teams as well.

You mean how the Rams didn't get a lead the entire game? Yeah I know. As Joel pointed out, they didn't do the smart plays which cost them in the end.

There's no doubt that the day Tom Brady announces his retirement will be a joyful day for the rest of the league. It will be a sad day for Patriots fans. It will be like the day Bobby Orr was traded or the day Larry Bird retired.

Those guys were among the best who ever played their games.

I believe that Tom Brady is the best who ever played pro football.

C'mon haters, be honest. If you had to pick one quarterback to lead a game winning drive would you really pick anyone else?

All year long the Chiefs have been derided because while they had the best offense, they didn't know the meaning of the word defense. Having one of the most porous defenses in the league they were able to hold the Pats to 31 points and only lost in overtime. And it was the GOAT that couldn't easily out score a second year QB with a poor defense? The stars have aligned for Brady and Belicheck and they have had a great and very successful run but in that system I would easily be as comfortable with Rodgers, Manning, Montana, Elway, maybe Marino to name a few.

Well the moon was covered in a shadow late last night.

I thought we were going to have superbowl champs by this morning....but they must have moved a play off game some where..  we now have the final 2 teams.

Did I here something about them using goats to trim the fields?

The only reason to put goats on a football field would be to eat the poison Ivey....

Sheep are better at trimming the grass.

That last line actually made me LOL!

Those were both great games. I do think the Saints got shafted on that Non-Call. I also thought the officials in the Chiefs-Patriots game made quite a few mistakes but at least they were making them both ways. It didn't look like either team got an advantage.

I'm with you 100%Tony That saints no call was ridiculous. I didn't see the game, just the blatant no-call. The Patriots game however, I did see, total nail biter till the end, til the end again LOL

It's been a long time since I had any Shine.  Back ~25 years ago when I lived in an apartment, I went out to the pool to relax late one night and one of my neighbors was out there and brought his jug and a bottle of Pepsi (his mixer of choice).

He would pour about 1 inch of shine in the glass and fill the other 8 or so ounces with Pepsi.  Wait a minute and you were back to a full glass of clear liquid - but still had a good bite (good for me since I wasn't used to that shine).  Slept good later that night.

I keep a bottle of 100-proof peppermint schnapps in the freezer.  When anyone has a sore throat or cough you'd be hard pressed to find a better medicine - good for the throat and sinuses, loosens phlegm, helps sleep.  The 30-proof stuff is okay, but it is rather viscous coming from the freezer.  The higher alcohol content of the 100-proof is definitely an anti-freeze.

mix some in you coffee or tea if you use a sweetener.   When I was in south Texas I would go and get it from the hive in the back.  Since I had to move I turned them over to another beekeeper and he would make mead with the honey.  That is good too.

To be locally effective, the raw honey for allergy treatment should be locally sourced. That is, it contains influences specific to your locality from which you are allergic to. Search for local sources, even if not in a store, but you may have to go to someone's home or roadside farm stand to buy it. Just some honey off the shelf at supermarket won't necessarily work for you. My father is a beekeeper too.

I have a friend who has a bunch of honey hives and makes honey so I'll try and ask him some. I'm not much of a cofee drinker, would a glass of water do? I don't think the origin of the honey will change much as my allergies revolve around pollen, dust, hay and a bunch of other minor things which can be easily avoided such as cats.

Alex, The idea behind putting honey in coffee is that since it is hot it will dissolve  (melt) it. Hot tea or water will work as well, then just add ice.

My dad drinks a concoction of a glass of hot water with a tablespoon each of honey and apple cider vinegar. I think that's what it's for, but it could be something for immunology. It sounds gross.

My Dear Dear Helen did tell me about her time with Aliko Dangote.

I should have believed her and gave her my banking account number and password as she requested.

Such a fool am I.

Squandered not only opportunity, but also my heart.

I may never fully recover.

My grandmother would give me three quarts of honey each time I asked for it. She had three hives and would get a lot of honey each year. I would add honey to my peanut butter and also put it on my buttered biscuit. With my fresh OJ and the honey all winter I hardly would get sick. I only missed three days my whole life going thru school and two of those days I missed was for my grandparents funeral. Local raw honey is the best. My granny's cough medicine was shine, lemon juice, and honey served warm.

So, does anyone have any news about John Stoltzfus? Seems odd that he hasn't been logged on in more then a week.

darn when work gets to busy.  I try to check in the morning and then before I go home when I get that busy, sometimes at lunch.

Honey users be ware the stuff you get at the grocery store.  That nice golden looking "Honey" may be getting its color and sweetness from corn syrup.   Find a local bee keeper to get stuff that has been produced locally.  Other places to look would be to try the garden stores, feed stores, and smaller ma and pop stores.

In South TX, I had set up the new Coffee shop with local Honey.  The guy that would do bee removals came across a hive that netted him 10  5 gal buckets full of honey comb, so he had lots of extra.

Raw honey has not been processed. Best from the comb but you can get it without.

I would keep the comb to melt down. Some guys will just cut the caps and not make the girls rebuild the comb. All depends on the type of hives that you have set up and your management style.  I got into it cause I had bees living in the house next door and if I was going to get stung I wanted something good from it.

Kind of miss the occasional bee sting.  My joints would not ache as much.  Maybe I should look up some be removal guy and see if he need a volunteer.

Was it a "Blue Norther" that brought you all the snow?

Down here in Dallas we went from 70 degrees Friday afternoon to mid 20's late that night and spotty light snow (not enough to even dust the ground) Saturday morning. Back into the 50's by Sunday afternoon.  On Friday afternoon, my sister (in Southern New Hampshire) said they were expecting about a foot.

I'm not quite sure I understand what a Blue Norther is.

Basically we had a cold front come from the North of Quebec down to the south of Quebec which made us go from -5°C to -20°C and left us with somewhere between 25cm of snow to 60 cm of snow, depending on the place in Quebec. We're still in the -20's but on thursday we're supposed to go up to +5°C and have some rain and then back down to the -10°C's...

When I was growing up in the North East US, it was a common term that people would say when a really strong cold front came in and temperatures dropped fast and far.

I just looked up the definition and found this:

"A Blue Norther is a fast-moving cold front that causes temperatures to drop dramatically and quickly. Common characteristics are a dark blue-black sky, strong winds, and temperatures than can drop 20-30 degrees Fahrenheit in a few minutes."

Apparently, it was most common from the Texas PanHandle but I lived in New York and New Hampshire as a kid and it was a commonly used term there too.

They are talking about freezing rain here in the morning. I will have a fun time getting to work. They say by 8am it will be all rain. The funny thing is the low and high will be 46° and it is 36 here now. Must be a good southern breeze coming this way in the morning.

man I hope that it stays over there and not make it this far east.  I heard something on the radio.

I may have to take a look.

I like the rock weather report I get every morning.

I tied a rock to a string and hung it in the front yard.  If it is swinging back and forth the wind is blowing.  if it is wet it is raining.  I really don't want to wake up and find that it is all iced up.
