In the past I contacted a different VAR to my current one and they just said it was very unusual to want to change VAR.

However just a few months later its turns out my current VAR purchased them, so I thought maybe that was why they fobbed me off.

Recently I contacted another VAR, they are local to me - they have a more local office than my currect VAR.

I followed up the email with a phone call when they didnt respond.

They promised to call me back, but they haven't.

I get the impression from USA users that there is a quite a competitive market between VAR's over there. In UK while there are quite a few VARs all claiming to cover my area there seems to be no competition. The VAR you chose is the one you have. They are no interested in you if you have a current VAR.

That, I think, is bad news for customers!

Well, it now seems that third VAR I was talking to was acquired by solid solutions as well.

There are only a few VARs listed in UK, and and these three (now the same company) are still listed separately.

It means the SW market is shrinking and multiple vendors are no longer viable.

Or it means one vendor is acquiring a monopoly.

Neither is good for us users.
