I have a macro that loops through cut list items and multiplies the body count by the length for that particular cut list item to find the total material length. For the most part, the code works. However, I'm having an issue where the macro is finding a cut list item that is not shown in the feature tree. The locals window shows that for CustomPropResolvedVal the value is ""LENGTH@@@TUBE, SQUARE 4.00 X 4.00 X 0.25 "".

I got a block with a slopped top. I want 10 degrees draft from the top to the bottom. I need to hold the dimensions at the top (see attached) and draft 10 degrees down from the 4 top edges. In Pro/e you would just select the top plane as your neutral plane, select the wall you want to draft, and select the edge (or surface) you want to draft from and the sides would flare out to the plane.

I've been working on this package for a while and thought it might help some of you out there - attached, you'll find all of the drawings and solutions (in completed model form) for the SOLIDWORKS World Model Mania contest, from this year all the way back to 2000. I had to do quite a bit of compression to fit all of them into one attachment, so some of the drawings may be a bit low-quality, and a couple years have had the simulation setups removed. However, you'll also find a spreadsheet

I am running SP1.0, video card is Quadro 2000 - I'm not sure what is preventing me from turning the setting on. It was suggested I turn off the optimize for thin parts under edge display which did nothing. I wonder if there is a registry hack that will force it on?

I'm sure this has been asked a million times on here already...but how do I get a balloon to follow a certain row in the BOM that has no physical geometry when it gets sorted? For example, if I call Loctite out on a fastener and then re-sort the BOM, it should follow that row and not be a manual thing you have to go back and re-adjust. I know Inventor has this type of functionality a long time ago with virtual parts. Just seems like this should be baked in for SW.

Trying to figure out the most elegant way to do this on drawing title block. Sometimes our drawings need to have the scale of a sheet display NONE. If I just assign a custom property to it, then it becomes "dumb" when it needs to have actual scale, the user will have to manually type scale, which can lead to errors. Any options on the best way to implement this?

Why...does SolidWorks, when I initiate a cut, more often than not go away from the part and give me the "intended cut does not intersect the model?? If the software knows where the model is, why doesn't it default to the valid direction??

Here is the scenario: In order to create prototype drawings, I created my assembly and all my components on my hard drive of my computer. I created the drawings and PDF files there as well (used #TASK to cycle through and create the PDF Files). Now I am ready to release the production version of my fixture.

I have an object that is made of many pieces of sheet metal (about 30 individual pieces), welded together. Each individual metal piece tends to be pretty simple, so that it can be cut on a laser from flat plate stock. But welded together, the pieces form a pretty complex 3D shape.

I'm looking for a svn/git-like or pdm-like software to share the solidworks parts and store the different versions. For the moment, svn/git can't make diff on solidworks file and have to keep the full file at each commit and all PDM software I found are expensive.

I just sketched a rectangle, it came in with equal relations making it square. I must have sketched a zillion rectangles so guess was bound to happen one day. It's a bit fiddly to do by eyeball.

I'm more curious on how the workflow and set up of parts/assemblies/drawings are delegated between teams of co-workers when working on a project. Does one person handle that part/assembly/drawing throughout the life of the whole project? If more than one person touches that file can you explain why that is necessary?

We're considering a Composer license and using it to generate content for our tech service group, website, etc. The price has come down quite a bit, and we're in a position where we feel it'd be worthwhile to take advantage of the existing CAD data. However, our VAR has had difficulty providing any references of other companies of similar size (100 employees, a small engineering staff) that use it successfully. Search around the web and it's very difficult to find customer testimonials or other
