For the last couple months I've been working on and off on a way to make our weldment design process more efficient. In the past the company has done weldments the old fashion way where each part of the weldment was a part and the weldment was an assembly. This allowed any characteristic in the part to be brought through to the BOM in the Weldment/Assembly.

move/copy bodies wrecks weldments I have submitted this to my VAR already, just want to know if anyone else has this issue. when you take weldment members and move/copy them and then use the trim feature on them it (A) takes weldment physicality away from the remaining solid bodies (B) seperates the created bodies from others that should be of the same cutlist item which were made by another feature...

Working on weldment properties.. I've added some text properties, using a text file to make a list. Whilst testing on a simple part I can apply the properties, but the tab doesn't read them back,,, the list boxes remain blank, which makes the whole thing reasonably useless.

Transfer Cut List Properties to Model Properties Checked What Strange is the other two pertinent properties (Width and Thickness ) also both transferred from the cutlist populate just fine.

Playing around to improve my skills a bit and if you look at the attached picture. I have these piles with 12x12 caps on them, and some metal work I made with weldments. I now need to pattern out all these piles + Caps. However things do jog around about twice and I would prefer to not redraw if I can help it (cleaner cutlist methinks).

Tapered bent tube using weldments Is it possible to create a tapered bent tube using weldments. I know i can do this using the sweep function but using the sweep function wont give me the actual length of the tube that is required before bending.

Apologies for a (most likely) elementary question - I have been playing with weldments to save some time and its worked great (thanks again for everyones help on my last question). However now I'm at the stage where I need to start putting holes in my pieces and then make shop drawings out of them. Now I have this single part with some 106 weldments, is it better to do all my "drilling" in the weldments or first make it into an assembly?

I am drawing up a weldment machine frame. Everything was fine until I tried to add some button mounting arms to the frame. I can not constrain the two lines without generating an over constraint error. The 10" and 3" lines where drawn in the same plane.

So I started using weldments for our dock/marina design and its working out really well for the past few days. My last little hiccup is that when I make a drawing and go to propogate a cutlist I get a list of all these weldments but there's no way to differentiate them. they are simply just listed 1-76, and have lengths beside them. However, for speed and simply just getting a lumber count it would be nice to just produce a huge cut list, and know how many 6x8's or 8x8'. etc we will need at a

This is what i am trying to do. when i created the weldnment there were a bunch of parts that were put into the same cutlist item. i needed those items to have different part numbers and descriptions. so i dragged the item with the blue box out of the cut list folder and then created it as a cutlist item. but when i go into the cutlist prperties there is folders that have nothing in them. ya i have tried to delete it and then put each item in a cut list if you right click on it. that is

I have a weldment in Solidworks 2019. I ran the new interference detection tool. It showed me that some of my bodies were interfering. I selected the "make interfering bodies transparent" option, to highlight the interfering bodies.

I've referred to using Plate in weldments on several Forum posts, and a member contacted me about sharing my files, so I created this Discussion in case someone else is interested. For some background, a few years ago I created a folder with some plate profiles (simple rectangle sketches, centered on the origin, with additional points for alternate insertion locations).

Several of the other drop downs get their options for the drop down from a .TXT. For instance the drop down for weldment properties comes from weldmentprop.txt or something like that. I was wondering if the cut list prop was the same.

I want to create a template weldment model. When I create a new weldment I would start with that template. In that template when I create a body I would like the cut list to magically populate with several custom properties. Essentially the same thing you do with custom properties in a regular part but with the cut list.

I have 10 configurations with atleast 3 derived configurations per configuration. Each derived configuration has different profiles. when i jump from one configuration to other i need to hide all the sketch profiles for all configurations each and everytime when i create new configuration with different profile. I dont want to use hide/show items which temporarily disables on my screen. I want to hide them in all configurations one shot.

I was searching for weldment ability to OFFSET from the path segment. I am new to Solidworks. In Inventor it has the ability to OFFSET from the path segment. So, there is no need to create another path segment.
