As comparing with the length of pipe , the wall of it is quite thin, so I would like to make pipe a shell. Then I always get error messages when I try to apply shrink fit between coupler and pipe. Yes, Simulation can handle a shrink fit between a shell body and solid body.

I´ve been doing some trials with simulation drop test, got some weird results and here I am, trying to understand it. The drop test is of a product within it´s packaging (molded pulp tray). When the assembly hits the floor, instead of crushing the packaging and stop, the product crushes the packaging a bit, then passes through the packaging like going through jelly, then the packaging goes back to it´s original form and the product hits the floor.

I have an object that is made of many pieces of sheet metal (about 30 individual pieces), welded together. Each individual metal piece tends to be pretty simple, so that it can be cut on a laser from flat plate stock. But welded together, the pieces form a pretty complex 3D shape.

I have a part attached , I just want to do an analysis of putting a load (just for example 600.0kg total on 2 surfaces on the beam.) and get FOS. The simulation doesn't seem to run, wondering if someone could take a look its probably very basic , butI don't use simulationmuch at all

I am trying to simulate an electronic device (can't post too much info about it) and I have an aluminum thin plate (about .060" thick) that is being attached to an aluminum housing. The thin plate is secured in place by screws, there are 3 sections of this plate that are in direct contact with the housing (the rest of the plate is not in contact with anything) The material of both parts is aluminum. My question is, do I need to use the thermal joint feature in those 3 contact areas? I am seeing

I have modeled a steel construction, and I now have to run some simulation on it. I find this task is very difficult with my level of knowledge in simulation, and since it can take years before I need to simulate something like this again I need someone to do this for me. Is there anyone on this forum that can do this for me (I want to pay if someone can do this for me).

We are doing a series of studies, some being done when we're not present. How do you determine how long a study took after it's done etc.? The .LOG file has the number that 'solver messages' will report.

This is a based-transient analysis, but it could also be solved based on parameter-driven methods. I would like to have a flow through a chamber that has two outlets. One outlet vents to the atmosphere.

Hello everyone, I just came up a question about what happens in the SW simulation non-linear analysis when Equivalent Strain goes over the tensile testing "stain @ break" value. I think that any result before strain reaches "strain @ break" value is referable but the one after is not as the result will be just interpolated?? Such as we can still check the respond plot through "Probe" up to the"strain @ break"for ultimate loads.

When I first ran the simulation, SW produced five resonant frequencies ranging from 1000-8000Hz, however I found an option to increase the modal results. Why does SW produce five result to begin with, is there any particular reason. How can I be able to produce the response I am looking for.

Hello all, I tried to simulate 2 shelves using solidWorks simulation. 1mm and 2mm shelves. For a load of 10 kgs at center, I am getting a displacement of 4mm in 2mm thickness shelf, but for 1mm shelf am getting huge displacements around 20mm which is not correct. Can you please tell me the reason ?

i simulated a simple falling of a ball on a plate. i have expected that after balls contact, it would be jump up and down alternatively. but unfortunately it fall and then stop. Tags:none(add)motion_analysis

For a little while now I have been experimenting with running studies on the capabilities of a design of spreader beam that I have come up with. The only issue is I am experiencing difficulty with being able to constrain/define the "chains". At first I thought of modelling them as truss elements as axial loading was all that I was concerned about on the chains but I could not bond the end of the truss to the face of the shackle. The scope of my study is to see the maximum stress and displacement

In an effort to compile and compare benchmark data for Linear Static FEA’s a SolidWorks forum thread was created on December 19, 2012. In the following weeks the post received 5600+ views and 160+ replies. Benchmark data from forum members was complied and compared. During this time it was observed that the results varied greatly from user to user.

General Static Simulation I've taken CAD college courses which included SolidWorks; however, although they teach you how to "perform" different types of studies, they never teach you how to verify that your simulation is consistent with reality.

Ever since the system got upgrade to 2017, the flow simulation never worked properly. Always crashes. c). do flow volume check, sometimes showed volume, sometimes showed no volume, although nothing is changed

I'm pretty new to flowsim and currently having many problems regarding all kinds of errors. Geometry check is fine in the model below, though there is some threads interference (screws and nuts). The face of boundary error is blue highlighted in the image (inlet flow). What can possibly go wrong and how can I address it?

I am analyzing a dump trailer (60,000 lb capacity). I have modeled it with shells and have about 500 surface bodies. I applied the thickness to the shells using the shell manager. I have then copied the study 8 times for 8 different loading conditions.

Hello everyone, my name is Marco, I'm a Mechanical Engineer to be and I'm currently working on a ball valve project. This valve works with water so I'm verifying the cavitation model and here occurs my problem: I'm running a simulation and at 1000 iterations (0.125 travel) it doesn't cavitate yet, even though there's a strong deltaP between inlet and outlet and I'm sure it has to cavitate. I know it is not a whole travel, but with all the other cavitation projects I did, the phenomenon started

I'm running a simulation (in Solidworks 2017 flow simulation) of a CCA to determine the max temperature of the components when powered. I sucessfully ran the simulation with radiation turned off, but now that I've turned radiation on I'm getting this error, "Radiation wall condition has been changed to White Body on insulator" but I'm not sure why it needs to be changed nor which surfaces. The default wall condition is 'non-radiating surfaces'. I'm using the 'two-resistor' model for most
