I am new to Solidworks and have been using AutoCAD for numerous years.I have a pipe that will run on the x axis that will sit in a pipe running on the y axis. I need to trim out the area from the x axis pipe so y axis pipe can sit in there. The x axis pipe will be larger. Do i need to draw both pipes or can I just draw/extrude x axis pipe and tell it the diameter needed to cut?

Hello, colleagues, What is the name of the menu, probably seen in Attached and how do I get to change the colour of it? I tried to tackle myself out of this, by surfing around the System Options>Colors>Color scheme settings, but I changed so many colours, that I didn't want to and then not being able to restore except for Reset... button down below. Any help is appreciated. Best regards. SolidworksGeneral

I always work with inventor and now for work needs i have to use solidworks. My question is: Can i set rotation and translation like inventor? In solid these commands are: mouse wheel (rotation), mouse wheel + ctrl (transation) ; in inventor: mouse wheel (translation) and mouse wheel + shift (rotation).

I am new to the forum, I looked into some of the posts about activation but found no answer. Our company bought the license from solidworks and gave it to our colleague. That colleague now left the company without de-activating the license. Now, why cant I activate the same version with the serial number.

I tested the same assembly with 2000 parts both in SW2016 and SW2020. Change a part and after that measure the time to rebuild the assembly. Of course I saved the parts first in SW2020 before testing. SW2020 25 sec SW2016 20 sec From reading the news about 2020 I had the impression we would make a big step forward but it is a big step backwards.

There are several things that you can do to a drawing / model that do not mark the file as "dirty", or needing to be saved (i.e. they don't cause that asterisk to appear next to the file name in the title bar). These edits are then lost when you close the file, because SolidWorks thought it hadn't changed and therefore didn't prompt you to save it. Please document those things here. SolidworksGeneral
