Some of the structural members are showing up on the cut list with no descriptions. If I click on the row isn't the part supposed to be highlighted? I cannot tell which part this is and I cannot open it to add a description property. Also there are parts in the cut list that I have 'excluded from cut list' but they are still showing.

Im trying to trim flat bar on edge where it crosses over SHS. The trim function works but creates a taper which is correct yet in reality it will get cut square. If you add square trim to other ends of flat bar segments then drag Trim/Extend4 below Cut extrude1 it works.

It depends on what you want. If you just need another instance of the same part in your assembly, then do it in the assembly with the Mirror Components command. If you need a mirror image of an asymmetrical part, you can also do that in the assembly with the Mirror Components command. After selecting the mirror plane and the component to mirror, click on the blue arrow at the top right of the CommandManager and click on the icon beside "Create opposite hand version" near the bottom.

When I create weld beads, the size represented in the model doesn't match the size I specified, or the resulting callout. For example, if I create a weld bead with a radius of 0.5in, the model shows a fillet weld with a radius of .325. That is a good question. I came up with the same dims as you did.

I apologise if my query has been dealt with already, but my searches found nothing conclusive. Anyway to the question, the majority of our work involves multi body weldments with fabrications in excess of 150 unique parts and often multiples of each. For many years we've been identifying the components by a manually entered number in the Cut-List Properties dialogue box against a Property Name 'ITEM' (see image below). We've done it this way so as to be able to recall that Cut-List information

As I use the same profile shapes in parts having different grades of steel or stainless steel, I don't usually want the material transferred from the profile's library file. Furthermore, when I edit a structural member feature to change a profile, it almost always tries to turn on "transfer material..." even if it was off previoiusly.

Very simple (so far) weldment that I'm working with and after editing I get this error message: "could not get a curve and a point to place the plane". Not the first time I've seen this. In this case it would be easy to start over but it would be good to know what I'm doing to cause this. And how to fix.

Okay, I'm stumped. I just edited a weldment to add a piece to it. I want it to combine with the existing weldment section, but it creates a new body. How do I get the two to combine?

How does one change the color of a weld bead within an assembly on SolidWorks 2014 SP 2.0? I've done it unintentionally (picture below) and wanted to change it to another color so the welds are more visible. So, I have figured that the weld beads colors are usually attached to the color of the first face you select when inserting a weld bead into a part or assembly.

I have managed to copy the sketch to it's original location on the Top plane, leaving 2 sketches on top of each other. I've poured over the forums, watched videos, read tutorials and still cannot figure this out.

I am quite inexperienced since i am using solidworks only for 1 year including studies, so i wanted to ask if it is possible to have all weldment cut lists parts to be calculated. For ex. we doing railings and one projects comes with 20-30 different dimensions, but sometimes there are same parts in one wielded part like filling *ex. 12 diameter tube) it is usable in all project and sometimes they are the same. so is it possible to have them calculated or you have to do assembly file from

No, nothing got missed. What you need to do is expand the 'SolidWorks Content' folder in your Design Library window. Click on the 'Weldments' folder. You'll then see a group of specs (Ansi Inch, AS, BSI, etc).

So I've added a bunch of weldment profiles from the web to my weldment profile directory. Solidworks detects the folder I created "8020" however, I cannot select or use any of the profiles. Any idea how to fix? thanks
