I had a 3-body part, and saved out 2 of the bodies as separate parts using body save as part. They show out of date with a stoplight, but I cannot figure out how to get them to update. I tried edit in context, CTRL-Q in every location I can think of, and a barrage of other things, but nothing worked. Can anyone shed some light?

I am the interim admin for our PDM vault at one of our satelite facilities and one of our users uninstalled his PDM client. When I reinstalled it I could not attach to the orignial vault. It appears the vault is still attached and has the comment "Missing Information". How can I correct this and get him back into the sytem?

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to remind you all that if you did not pre-register for the CAD Managers Bootcamp at SolidWorks World, you can still get in. We ask for pre-registration to determine the size of the room and the number of chairs. We always set up extras based on the number. So far there are more than 800 attendees registered for the Bootcamp.

When extruding text in an assembly as an assembly feature the text will not follow the sketched line or curve. The entire text line does not always display on the screen, only a few characters show when the line is selected and the text jumps to the origin of the model. At first the text seems to be on the line and when dimensions are added the text begins to behave irradically. Tim Kehl SolidworksAssemblies

Really love this enhancement, just wanted to write something that came to mind. I could really see people using this as their primary usage for mouse gestures, just as a right at your fingertips OK and Cancel. My suggestion here would be, currently you can use a 4 or 8 gesture dial, perhaps a 2 gesture dial for such a workflow could prove useful? In two configurations, left/right or up/down.

Brian (Cadfanatic) just finished his summary of the enhancements announced for SolidWorks 2012, and the General Session on Wednesday. http://www.cadfanatic.com/2011/01/solidworks-world-2011-whats-new-in-solidworks-2012/ Brian should have a full summary later, and Ricky Jordan's blog should be updated tonight, as well. We are all a bit tired now, so the full details will come out in the next days. SolidworksGeneral

All, Here is a handy library feature part for those of you whom use structural members (ie closed profile ones like wide flanges and channels) and would like to be able to place end caps. This will work by simply dropping it on the end of the structural piece and choosing two opposing corners. Also note that the extrude feature does not merge and it creates a separate body for cutlist usage. SolidworksWeldments

I can't find a standard to support this, but I wanted to see if anyone else noticed what I think is a problem in 2010. When you add the quantity next to a balloon, there is a space between the number and the "X". So, you will see "4 X" - I am pretty sure that this should be "4X". I would love to use this functionality, but I don't think our checkers will let this extra space slide by... brian SolidworksDrawings And Detailing

I believe I was told or have read at some point that all toolbox parts are "industry standard" items. If this is the case why can't I find 6.00x6.00x.375 square end aluminum angle? I specified this in a design believing this was an "industry standard" item. I found from my vendor that this item could not be found.

I'm sure I remember seeing a way of posting a "voting poll". Would be a nice way to handle this thread, but can't figure out how so will just post it as a normal thread. How often does your company upgrade of replace the CAD Workstations? 1.

Hello, For some reason our drawing templates have been set to a layer('Format') other than '-none-'. When we insert balloons they are onthis layer and are not the correct color. As we insert each balloonwe have the option of changing the layer, but it is only good forone insert and reverts back. Is there a way to change the currentlayer back to '-none-' (or unnasign all layers)?

I had a little time for routine maintenance and decided tocheck on my vid drivers for my notebook computer. It uses the 1600Mcard, but I cannot see anything at all on this card when I checkthe SW approved card listings. Does that mean it is not aproved for2009? I am a little nervous about using drivers approved for a differentcard, so I'l probably just say with what I have loaded rightnow.SolidworksAdministration

hi all, Hope you all had a good weekend. I'm doing a big set of drawing sheets today. Whilst creating somerectangular detail views i though it would be nice to show thelines where the model is cut as the normal convention of a zig zag,and a different colour maybe. The edge of the detail view circle or profile must be createdseperately so could I put it on a different layer?

This may be the simples question to be posted here for awhile, and it makes obvious the fact that I haven't had theoccasion to animate anything in a while. Is it possible to getsmooth motion when using mates to position a compoent for each keyframe, rather than having it jump to the next position at the endof each time period? Please see attached simple motion study, andtell me what I'm missing.SolidworksMotion Studies

I am setting up PDMworks and the vault at work and someNon-SW users need to access the drawings we are producing(Production Managers, VP of Production) to get quotes. Can Viewer allow Non-SW users to access and print SW files or doesContributor only have that capability. They want to use SWExpolorer and add-on PDMworks Contributor or Viewer. Oh and does each one require an additional licence.SolidworksWorkgroup Pdm

The relese notes of SolidWorks 2009 SP3 tells that itsupports to open files from Pro/E Wildfire 4... I got some files from a customer and SW says that it not a validpart file. Have someone had the same problem? /Mattias --EDIT-- It seams like the problem lies in the export of file that comesfrom my cutomers PDM system... files I got directly from a clientwith Wildfire 4.0 it works fine. /MattiasSolidworksImport export

Hello all, this is my first post here. I'm looking for a weldment profile for a 2"x1"x"1/8" steel channel. I downloaded the "ANSI inch" weldments package, but it does not seem to have anything smaller than 3". I know how to make custom profiles, and could draw it up myself if I had all the dimensional info.

Any time I try to print from the latest version of SW Viewerit crashes on me: "An unsupported operation was attempted." (appears twice) And then the generic Windows crash dialog. I've tried it withseveral different files in various locations (on and off thenetwork share) and I tried reinstalling the viewer. No luck. I'm going to try eDrawings next but I figured it was worth callingattention to this.SolidworksGeneral

I model a ton of welded frames and create different widths using configurations. I have to assign a unique part number to every part that differs from one config to another, even if the only thing that's different is, for example, the length of a sq. tube. How do you handle manually entered properties in a cut list that need to be different between configurations? Is this a stupid question? SolidworksWeldments

I have a question about surfacing, is it a good practice tostick to creating 3-sided and 4-sided patches or is there no realharm in creating a single complex surface often generated with aloft. I've found 4-sided patches to be very convenient and quitemalleable for making edges tangent or curvature continous. Is there any truth to my feelings about trying to stick to 4-sidedsurfaces?
