NOT A PDM EXPERT OR ADMINASTRATOR. I have a folder that I would like to rename. Do all files need to be checked in BEFORE I rename or can this be done at any time (and it will update the references)? I'm not 100% sure but I would be willing to bet that there are files checked out from this folder somewhere.
Hello SolidWorks, Sure would be nice to sort documents in vault by filename instead of type. So annoying to scroll down the tree with numbers out sequence. Yeah, I know submit an ER however my gut feeling is it will fall on deaf ears. SolidworksWorkgroup Pdm
Hello, I've submitted an "idea" (clever workaround to ER) to add a quantity column to PDMWW. This column would be primarily used for attachments/generics but could also be used to override the default quantity for SolidWorks. For those experiencing anomalies using PDMW do not be alarmed, this is normal behavior. Back in 2005-2006 I had about 18 or so issues to be resolved. This prompted my move to DBWorks but, alas I'm now employed elsewhere and am going back to PDMW. Can hardly wait to see what weirdness awaits.
Found this in the KB: SolutionS-08809: What is the recommended way of importing the latestrevision data from one PDMWorks® vault to another? Used the search functionality and I failed. Is there a discussionon this topic?SolidworksWorkgroup Pdm
I am noticing that if I have a part already checked in thevault before I create a drawing and then check in the drawing thedrawing does not have the same revision as the part. I have useddbworks in the past and the drawing revision was always sycronisedwith that of the part. Am I missing a setting in the vaultadmin?SolidworksWorkgroup Pdm
Hi, We just ran the update of the SWWorkgroup Server to SP3. Itappeared to be successful but we are still getting SP1 in the infowindow of SWExplorer. In SolidWorks Add-ins PDMWorkgroup can't befound. Any idea of what might have gone wrong?
I am a user testing out PDM. My VAR pointed out to that we are are out of synch, using SW2008 atSP4 but our PDM is only at SP0. In the SW support downloads I don'tsee any update listed SW2008 SP4. Is there someplace else to findthis, should I look at some other way to update?
After I set up my folder location for the drawings I want tobatch print, the Task Scheduler goes to work, but unfortunatly thestatus of all the subtasks shows "Failed to start Macro". Any Idea?? SolidworksWorkgroup Pdm
I want to export reports from workgroup pdm but I only wantto include the part/assembly number, description, revision andmaterial+ area theough custom properties... Is it possibleSolidworksWorkgroup Pdm
Hey guys, I used the Task Scheduler to convert a bunch of our drawings overto .pdf. When i open these pdf's several views dont show up andjust show annotations. Not sure if there are SPR's out for that. These are drawings from older and newer versions of SW. We arerunning SW SP3.0.
Just wondering what the future holds for PDM for workgroups, there were no changes in SW2009, with SW2010 coming shortly are theany enhancements/updates? If not I feel we are all being short changed as we pay asubscription fee for this - some of which we are told goes towardsimproving the program. SolidworksWorkgroup Pdm

I'm currently using sw2007 sp2.2. I am haveing a probleminserting 2d blocks into a drawing. I am trying to add a pnematic schematic to the drawing. howeverevery time i try to insert a block containing a valve, or FRL, ect.solidworks inserts my revision block instead of what is containedin block file. Does anyone have an idea where to start?
When doing a PDM check-in of an assembly, I select to adddrawings but the component drawings are not found unless Iphysically have the component file open. Having the assembly openis not good enough. I'm using SW2009 sp2.1 with Windows Vista 64bit. Any suggestions?
FYI, we had major performance issues when you select InProject Manager under Show selections on the Vault tab ofSolidWorks Workgroupd PDM Options. After unchecking this theperformance is great. SolidworksWorkgroup Pdm
We plan to backup our PDM vault every night. IT departmentwould prefer to backup only files that have changed (timestampchanges since last backup), versus the entire vault. I am concerned about inter-file dependencies. My gut tells me it issafer to create a new copy of the entire vault each backup.
I am the system admin and I believe that I have all thepermissions set correctly (AFAIK) but I am not able to roll backfiles. I am able to see the history, select the point at which Iwould like to rollback too, but when I execute the command it justhangs. Anyhelp on this would be appreciated. I have a feeling thatit is a premissions thing but I don't know what to change.SolidworksWorkgroup Pdm
