I have a linkage assembly that I'm running a motion analysis on. I'm trying to specify a trosin spring in the assembly to activate the linkages. The confusing part is that it doesn't clearly specify where the pre-load is set & the direction the spring is activating.

Haven't found much info on this, but I figured out how to animate springs and flex tubing...Here's how: For springs, you have to create the spring while in assembly mode:

Door Simulation What is the easiest or best way to show a door on a house closing and opening and also can you simulate a walkthrough of the house as well?

Hello, does anyone has any examples on an animation showing wire coming out from a crane boom and lifting a block from the ground up, rotating the crane boom to another location and lowering the block down? That would be very difficult to do within SolidWorks. However, if you're willing to put in plenty of hours, I believe it can be done.

I'm trying to get my head around weldments and simulation. I have a simple test piece, a three body weldment with two different types of weld, which I want to run a simulation on. SW knows about the joints but wants me to add bonded contact sets between the parts. This seems unrealistic to me since the bonds are between the welds and the parts, not between the parts.

I have a 30 meters long frame that resemble the chassis of a plane. I simulated the effort due to a 100 km/h wind and got my results. I used variable pressure on my tubes and I did my study only on the front part for mesh timing purpose.

Is it possible to show an animation of Copper wire to bend from its initial position during Motion studies. I need to move part-1, where after certain interval it touched Part-2 which is made of copper material.

I have a really large AVI file, approximately 1.6 GB. I used the Microsoft compression option on solidwork with a 50 frame per second and the avi file that it output was really large. Has any one worked with a file this big and successfully compress it to a point where it can be used on a website for advertising.

I am trying to model a mass hanging from a pin that goes through 4 plates. I'm looking for the stress on the plates due to the hanging mass. When I modeled it, only one plate shows to be loaded (see image 1 & 2). The plates are fixed, pendulum has concentric mate to one of the plates.

I have an engineer trying to use Simulation getting an authorization failed error message whenever he tries to open the simulation add-in. We have a license for Simulation Premium (network license), and the network license is available according to the license administrator. I am IT support, so I do not know how to use Solidworks.

I am new in this forum actually this is my first post as you can see. My question will be short. I have difficulties building a sprag which would let my gears turn in one way only.

Looking for user feedback and support on this topic- I am looking for user support for those of you creating motion study's and generating animation renderings/ray traces. After creating some cool animations recently for my clients I have found it to be a real struggle to be productive rendering the animations to video and or Targa frames.

I don't like current interface of Motion study manager (image 2), so is it possible to change interface of the Motion Study Manager to " pre 2010" style used in older Motion Analysis software, see image 1 , motion_analysis

I did small research for that but I couldn't find similar problem. sorry if answer exist somewhere here. I tried spin very simple assembly from two parts in motion analysis with gravity and gear mate, but didn't worked.

I am working with my students on creating co2 cars in solidworks. We have run them through flow simulator and I am now wanting to simulate the drag race with their cars. Is there a way in Simulation or motion simulation to simulate the race and accurately predict the winner?

During a motion study of a certain assembly, there is a requirement of keeping some moving parts at a rest positon.( about 2 seconds) After resting, it will have a linear motion. Can anyone know how to keep that time in SolidWorks motion? Are you just animating with key points, and manually dragging parts, or are you using motors?

This is probably a very basic question but I haven't been able to find the answer in the discussions. I have a model with three different configurations. I want to do a motion study for each of the configurations to see how the motion behavior changes with each. I've created a motion study for the first configuration but can't figure out how to change the configuration for the next motion study.
