The second person we would like to profile from the SOLIDWORKS World xDesign challenge is David Furry. He shared the following with us regarding the challenge: As long as I can remember I have been designing and building things. My dad was an engineer and I got to help with a lot of projects around the house, usually my job was to stay out of the way and watch and learn. We designed and built Pinewood Derby cars for five years running and won a lot of trophies.

Day three of General Sessions at SOLIDWORKS World started off with Mike Puckett, Senior Manager of the Worldwide Certification Program, who gave the audience a glimpse of the workforce of the future. According to Mike the SOLIDWORKS certification program, which celebrates its 20th anniversary, initially took 16 years to reach 100,000 certified users, but over the last two years it’s doubled in size with 200,000 new users now certified. I’m a child of the Space Age. I was fortunate to grow during a time that marked the birth of what was perhaps the greatest era of exploration, scientific and technological achievements. My childhood coincided with the Apollo missions, with its crowning achievement of seeing men walk on the moon and their safe return to earth. It was a much different era for a child to grew up in than today.
