Founded around the mission to support Clean Tech startups, Worcester Clean Tech Incubator (WCTI) is rapidly developing and increasing their capacity to serve the innovation economy. WCTI is creating a well-coordinated support system for the Entrepreneurs in the Worcester, Massachusetts community. Partnering up with organizations such as Mass CEC, National Grid – The Sustainability Hub, Coghlin Electric, The Coghlin Companies, Bowditch & Dewey, Shepherd & Goldstein, Technocopia, WPI, DS SOLIDWORKS, Davis Publishing, WICN Jazz NPR radio, Miles Press, and H9 Films among others, WCTI’s network has been growing extensively.

The facility at WCTI is still expanding; their space is not only incredibly flexible, but also highly adaptable. Building out their space allows WCTI to design a unique space for each of its incoming startups. WCTI’s growing network already contains industry specific mentors, OEM manufacturers, contract engineers, legal services and more. Located a block from the City Common and in walking distance to the MBTA commuter rail, WCTI is ready to host Entrepreneurs from all over the commonwealth and beyond.

WCTI has already hosted the NECEC in their space.  Bringing in twelve new startups has allowed them to grow and expand the services that the space can offer. Constantly evolving, WCTI spends time supporting the existing members while preparing their space and increasing their resources for the new members.

I had a chance to visit the space and speak with the Founder of the incubator, Joseph Bush, PhD about the space and how SOLIDWORKS will operate there. “I studied at WPI and learned SOLIDWORKS there. SOLDIWORKS is the industry standard. People know it and expect to use the program. With the SOLIDWORKS Entrepreneurship Program, WCTI will be able to get licenses for all our startups that need it. It is satisfying being surrounded by passionate entrepreneurs. We have great partners, an energetic entrepreneurship community and our resources are expanding.”

The excitement is growing as Worcester Clean Tech Incubator prepares to welcome in a new cohort of Entrepreneurs. SOLIDWORKS will do a follow up article with WCTI once the new startups have occupied the space to see what WCTI has in store for the Clean Tech startup world.
