As one of the leading research universities in world, TU-Berlin (Technische Universität Berlin) engineering laboratories are impressive. Members of the SOLIDWORKS Education and Research team and our Value Added Resellers were honored to take a tour with Dr.-Ing. Christian Navid Nayeri, Chief Engineer and deputy head of chair.

Our first stop could not be missed. As one of the largest water tanks in the world for testing ships, propellers and hulls, the bright pink and blue structure towered over the campus.

Our next stop took us to one of the largest continuous water tanks in the world. Through innovative structures and monitoring methods, this tank is used by the TU-Berlin research team, Olympic German Rowing team, and in collaboration with industrial global companies.

We spoke with the PhD candidates of fluid mechanics and technical acoustics.    The historic conference room was filled with awards from AIAA, ASME and other organizations along with engineering dissertations over 100 years old providing us the technology that we use everyday.  The students explained how the SOLIDWORKS Student Engineering Kit (SEK) can be distributed to all students through the TU-Berlin web portal for free, providing CAD, FEM and CFD software tools.
