I have entered a custom item (row) to the BOM that is not shown in the drawing but we need it called out. It is inserted into another item, I would like to call it out with a stacked balloon with the other item. Can this be done? When I try "Add to stack" I do not see an option to select item from BOM. Thanks in advance.

Re: Add custom BOM item to balloon stack

Jared,

I don't know of an official way of doing this. But a work around may be to actually add this part to the model and add the balloon then hide the part so it doesn't show. If you don't have a model you could create some simple geometry and create a dummy part to add to the assembly. This gives you something to select for the balloon and then hide. Not clean or anything but it would work.

Re: Add custom BOM item to balloon stack

You can do as Jim Steinmeyer said and create a virtual Part in your Assembly, but you don't need to actually model any geometry.  When placing the Balloon just browse to the component in the tree and select it's Origin.

Re: Add custom BOM item to balloon stack

Cheat.  Add balloon by selecting anything to get it there.  Then select that balloon change type to text and add that number to it.  That way you do not have an extra part floating around on that page.
