I've spent quite some time working on the headlight glass for my truck only to find that it's becoming a real resource sucker (patterns). So, I went looking around the internet for a quality 3D model of a round domed headlight with patterned glass, why re-invent the wheel right? No joy! I need something about 175mm in Diameter (approx. 7").
A macro to split a cylindrical surface with two planar surfaces, the end result is a quater of a cylinder. The trimmed surface is then mirrored about the plane. The result needed is not always be the same quater of the surface (see EndSurface.SLDPART)
I have been working with extrudes and weldments and I can't seem to get the information such as material, length etc. or any other information, in to my BOM, from parts inserted in to other parts or assemblies. The parts inserted in to other parts or assemblies show up blank or not at all om my BOM. Am I missing something?
The section of pipe is modeled in Caesar II and the forces from this I want to input in Solidworks and do an analysis to see what will happen to the pipe and the small stubs. My question is how do I fix the pipe correctly to model it? The pipe is connected to other pipes on both ends. I am only concerned with this section of pipe.

Bei importierten Körpern mit vielen kleinen Flächen stellt es sich häufig als sehr mühselig heraus, was jetzt Trennlinie und was Flächenrand ist. Wenn ich der Funktion ein Erscheinungsbild zuweise, werden alle ausgewählten Flächen gefärbt.
Hi, I'm trying to make a case for some adapters/mouse I have. I've got the parts modeled and in an assembly as shown in this picture:Capture.PNG All I want to do now is "subtract" them straight up (linearly) from the block they're sitting in.
I would like to be able to change the state of geometry in a sketch from "construction" geometry to "sketch" geometry within the same sketch based on different configurations. Much like you can have different values for a dimension for different configurations. Is this something SW can do now or something they could do as an enhancement request? Would it be difficult?
I am trying to determine if what I'm attempting is even possible. I am aware that excel macros can edit information in other programs, although I am unsure how to do that at this time. What I am attempting to do is save myself the task of opening the dxf, of the flat-pattern, I just saved and turn the perimeter into a poly-line for our CNC router. I have attempted to read through the recorded macro I get from recording my process but I get quickly confused in the mess.
I've read that it is not possible to impart a simulated spin or movement to a part or an assembly being put through a simulated wind tunnel testing scenario within SolidWorks. I don't know if this is true across the board with all versions of SolidWorks or if it only applies to my older version of SolidWorks. If this is true, are therework-aroundsthat any of you more experienced SolidWorks users have developed?
Nonlinear analysis running slowly with direct sparse solver I've been working on a nonlinear analysis that's proven to be more frustrating that I anticipated. I had a linear static analysis of the same model completing within about 3 minutes for some deflection information.
I need to show the path of a web for a machine and can't figure out how else to do it but combine a series of 2D sketches with 3D sketches and then sweep the result. Up to this point, I have simply had to create an in-place 2D sketch using the machine's rollers, but now I have to redirect the web as can be seen in the attached part model. In this model, the web redirection is the twist shown by 3DSketch2 connecting web_edge1a with web_edge2a and web_edge1b with web_edge2b.
I for the life of me can not get api to delete a drawing sheet for me. I swear it worked before and now no longer. My "tests" show me that the sheet is not being selected for deletion. What am i doing wrong here?
Hello All,.. I ran into a weird screen render using a camera... it seems to be only in 2017/2018 and only when a camera is used... pulses/zooms in-out/grainy.. see attached file/video.. (also, so far,.. it is ONLY this sldprt file... some sort of file corruption? Can anyone using 2017/2018 test and confirm seeing this..?
