A question for all the table experts out there and for SolidWorks employees. I will try not to rant but it is frustrating. We are creating some reference drawings for a customer for a simple product made up of between 5 and 15 components per configuration.
Detached drawinghas been a tool available in SolidWorks for many years. It allows drawings to be opened and used without the need to immediately load the associated model or assembly. The idea is that you can load a drawing much faster when you don't intend to make any changes to it.
I really like this option, but is there a way that you can restore the color of the dimensions to the default template colors without closing the drawing and re-opening it? It's a nice feature to see if a dimension changed that you didn't want to, but it would be better if you could RMB and click "approve dimension changes" and have it restore all to default. I know you can go to "isolate changed dimensions" but that's an extra step and you have to subconsciously do this.
In my drawing I used the centerline command to add a centerline between to parallel lines (the sides of a feature). I added an angular dimension from another centerline to this centerline. It is rotated 30deg. I then realized I wanted to change the scale of my view so I changed it to 1:1 and added a break to allow the view to fit on my A size sheet.
Q1 In drawing templates - is there a way I can make my insert model view command default to front view. It currently selects 'trimetric'....and I don't know what the heck is driving that (it is a small thing i guess, but it is driving me nuts that I can not find out where this is set).
My workstation is a Dell Precision T5610, Xeon 3.5 GHz, 4 cores, Windows 10 Pro, 16Gb Ram, Nvidia Quadro K4000. SW2018 is very slow when selecting and editing views and dimensions. Tech support helped tweak my system, but still haven't seen a difference.
We do all of our prints on A size sheets (which I despise). This means that I, sometimes, have to get creative with dimensioning - even setting the text font down to 6 point with associative sizing on the arrows and such. This usually works pretty well - with the exception of when I have more than one sheet and the sequential pages aren't as crowded and I can relax the dimension font for easier reading.
If I open the PDF template editor in MBD the editor becomes unresponsive. I can publish in 3D PDFs with the available default templates but I am unable to edit templates with the editor. Could anyone please suggest a solution?
Been searching for an answer to this one for a while and keep getting caught up in the same keywords everybody else uses when they haven't checked the "Link Balloon Text To Specified Table". Needless to say, I've ensured that the box is checked. I've deleted and recreated the BOM, I've restarted SW and my computer. Nothing resolves the issue:
I have several pages drawing, the first page is the assembly , from the second page are parts drawing. How can I link the every drawing no. in title block to the part or assembly name？Thanks. On that sheet(s), right click and select properties.
it seems everytime i open a part that was already made, feature manager dimxpert tab is always open. i would like to change this and have it go back to the feature manager design tree. thanks you Jive Software Version: 2016.3.10.0, revision: 20180416115013.f4cb191.release_2016.3.10
In a model I have some sketches, in the drawing I would like to puts some of these sketches on a separate layer. So Can I make a layer and go in the tree and pick those sketches to move to the new layer or something like that? The reason I would like to do this is when they get save out as dxf for machining that the layer the model is on can be turned off and just see the sketch that were picked.
I created a crop view, but once the view is created some items are outside the border for the drawing view and I can't connect Balloons to them. Also, it cuts off anything outside of that border when saved to PDF.
Hi, i'm trying to generate a bill of material with solidwork electrical. but for some parts, the descriptionappears multiple times (the same number of descriptions as there are parts of a same type. i can't find a way to correct that or edit it manually.
How add arc angle dimension in drawning like on attached dwg screenshot (exported drawning from SW). Click 2 ends and arc center doesn`t work ( i cant snap arc center in drawning)? With the dimensioning tool select first the start point of the arc then the end point and at last the arc it self between that two points.
