I'm using SW2018 SP2.0 My workflow for weldment parts is to rename the folders so that I can use that value in the cut list table and view labels etc. The name I give them is based on the project number.

I'm being asked to create a 3D dxf or dwg file based on a frame designed in SOLIDWORKS. Anyone doing this? What method do you recommend?

Is anybody noticing this in 2018, I have a weldment and in weldment the custom properties I have added a length field which is named "SW-Length" (using the apostrophe sign above the 2 on the key board), but in the cut list parts it doesn't show the actual length it just show "SW-Length", not the length of the part I am sure this was an issue a few years ago has it reappeared? Or am I doing something wrong.

We have a problem with our weldment cut list not combining cut lengths which are clearly the same. We have to manually drag and drop the parts together to avoid duplicate parts on our BOM's. We have been unable to find a cause for this problem although I have noticed people with a similar problem but no solutions, any help would be appreciated.

I have been working my way through my Weldments tutorial and after editing a piece of 2x2 angle .SLDLFP to make a 2x3 angle and saving it in my newly created folder as a 2x3 angle.SLDLFP I then navigate my way through the "insert structural member" command and find my newly created library feature. However after selecting the sketch entities that I want to define the structural member and selecting OK I get the screen report "!library feature is empty"

I had a bit of unexpected time this Sunday morning so I had a little play to see how SW handles curved mitres. Consider this profile running round a segmental arch

I'm having an issue while creating a cutlist table for a'Derived Configuration'of a weldment part in the Drawing! There are three different Derived Configurations for this part I'm working on which all have different lengths of a particular weldment section and etc so when I try to insert a Weldment Cutlist in the Drawing for a particular derived configuration, I only get the options to choose the top level configuration as the reference for the cutlist and consequently, the length of certain

Hello, I am working in weldments, after I have created a 3D sketch and run a couple of structural members if I change a dimension in the sketch the front place rotates to be parallel to the right plane. Do you know why this is happening and how I can fix it? Below is a snapshot of all three planes on in my part. I have restarted both Solidworks and my computer.

I'm planning to laser cut a series of tubes to create a structure using Weldments/Structural members features and I need to notch/cope its ends I've seen many people transforming the tube into a metal sheet part then using Extruded Cut feature to cut&notch the ends but It seems wrong and I don't feel safe sending this to my cutter.

So I've added a bunch of weldment profiles from the web to my weldment profile directory. Solidworks detects the folder I created "8020" however, I cannot select or use any of the profiles. Any idea how to fix? thanks

weldment multibody materials Hi, Please there is a way to have different materials for a multibody part weldment, so my multibody weldment has square tube, rectangle tube, end caps, and base plates and I would like to apply different steel materials for them. If is not possible to apply materials in parametric way how could I apply in manual approach.

I'm sorry but for some reason I decided to combine two straight weldment segments and that's what I got. Looks like it doubles the combined length

I have a cut list with (2) components that are mirrors. Because it is a square tube, it is identical. The cut list shows it as a separate item. Can I force them to be recognized as the same?

Just trying to figure out how to strengthen these corners. With the loads they will be seeing, they are yielding. I don't believe they will after they are welded together, but I can't seem to get a "real" weld into these corners to test. I would settle for a smooth fillet just to spread the load out over a little more area.

I'm using an out of the box installation of SW 2015 and am discovering weldments I downloaded from SW content are bareboned and seem to not include weight information. Hopefully, I'm wrong and can make a selection within my weldment part and weights info will be made available within the drawing. Can someone please point me twards the answer? I'm prepping for a presentation and hope to include a nice BOM or two which will list out the weldment's cutlist items with their individual weights.

When I create weld beads, the size represented in the model doesn't match the size I specified, or the resulting callout. For example, if I create a weld bead with a radius of 0.5in, the model shows a fillet weld with a radius of .325. The old 'Fillet Bead' feature gives you a representation in the model that matches the size you specify.

I have an assembly where have used "full penetration butt welding" to join two parts. In drawing sheet I want to connect the welding annotation (The size of the welding) with some custom property. How Can I do that? I have attached a picture of my drawing for better understanding.
