When I go to sketch a circle it gives me the option to enter in the radius and then hit enter. I know that I can input the diameter/2 but in previous versions of SW at my last job, the default was already set to enter the Diameter instead. I have scoured the menus and preferences to no avail, but I am sure that there must be some simple way of changing this...I have searched all over the net and found similar questions with answers that did not apply to my version of SW (2016).

This is a recent problem for me. When I open a model and start sketching or editing, I can double click on sketch dimensions to edit them as expected. However, I am finding that if I switch windows to a different model and then come back, I can no longer double click to edit dimensions. THe only way to edit them is to go to the dialoge box on the left, highlight the current value and then change it.

I'm new at solidworks and i'm modeling a curvature tank. So, i need to make sure dat the walls that creat a "Joint" be "coincidents". Is there an option when i can use a sketch from the Part1 to make the exact curvature on the Part2, and when i change it on Part1 it change automatically on Part2?

I keep getting hole wizard picking up on points that I make for reference. It's becoming a hindrance. In Inventor you could just swap between the two option i.e. 'right-click' on the point and choose what you want it to do.

Is there any secret to get a linear pattern to follow a line rather than the x or y axis? I'd like to make a pattern using a construction line to determine the angle rather than an axis. If select the entities I want to pattern then select the line to set the direction it simply adds the line to the list of entities to pattern and retains the x axis as the direction.

I cant find Magnesium Alloy in the material lists for solidworks 2016 I know most would suggest against using the following link but the guy (Matthew Lorono) who runs this is a frequent contributor here. The link references a custom material file that I'm sure others will agree that is one to have in your tools.

I've recently purchased a new PC. While transferring files I took the opportunity to upgrade to AutoCAD 2018 and updated SW to service pack 3. Now I cannot copy and paste from AutoCAD into a SolidWorks sketch. I've tried: copy with base point, or copy, or ctrl 'C' and they do not insert the drawing into an open sketch.

What does this dimension mean in spline? That's a very good question. I have no idea what that dimension is and I have no idea how to get those types of splines to work consistently or correctly.

SolidWorks sketching tools is what I find to be the most convnient tool to use for my laser cutting needs. I'm looking for a way to save a sketch as a DXFDXWPDF file, while preserving the exact sizes I specified in the sketch. When I try to do that - the sketch get scaled to A4 or shows as empty...

I am trying to dimension the position of several blocks in a sketch using horizontal and vertical ordinates, but I get a message box stating "Cannot add a constraint on this entity." I can still dimension to them using smart dimension and if I explode the blocks I can add the ordinate dimensions. I have tried setting my ordinate zero at both the origin and on another sketch entity.

I have a strange problem I am struggling with. I will describe the problem and the 3 screen shots would help to clarify my description. The sketch is drawn on a plane (plane 2) that is slightly angled relative to the top plane.
