I am attempting to calculate the deflection in the attached stainless steel gr304 frame using the simulation add-in with Solidworks PREMIUM 2017. I have attached the files with 60000n force applied to each of the 2 large plates and 3000n force applied to each of the four smaller plates.

Id like to know if there is a way to focus on an area of the model after running a simulation, in order to get numerical differences between designs at that specific area. I had a couple issues with welds cracking (Seen circled in blue in the picture), and I think removing the support (Seen in orange), will relieve some stress in the weld and transfer else where. Can someone recommend how I go about finding numerical stresses in particular areas, like where the weld goes?

Is a way to determine the cooling time of a part using the Transient Thermal Analysis on SolidWorks? I have applied an initial temperature load to a part as well as my desired temperature for it to reach as a temperature loading. Would this be the appropriate approach in determining the cooling time of a part given initial temperature and my desired temperature?

1. I am using SW Flow Simulation 2016 to investigate heat sink performance and want to create cut plots with the custom parameters Bottleneck number and Shortcut number. My problem is that I cannot find the two parameters in the list as indicated below. I tried to create them as custom parameters in the Engineering Data Base but was not successful in finding the right parameters to use in a function.

I have an assembly which consists of winding, cylinder and other components. I am constantly giving a current of 1.1A to the winding which will generate a heat power. I am trying to do a non linear analysis, am applying power of 17.42watts to the copper and defining initial temperatures as room temperature 25degree.

I am struggling prescribing a displacement in Simulation. I want to displace certain nodes on my part but it only allows you to displace a face in a certain direction. Basically the same way a normal simulation with an imposed force shows you which nodes displace and the distance. I want to reverse that.

All of our model images are coming out like this when we run our FEA Report. Any ideas what would cause this? Thanks in advance.

I am currently working on a project where i am making a modelization of the Dyson cool fan. My problem is that the flow is moving up instead of moving forward and i can't find why. The fan works like that : it sucks the air at the base and blow it throught the circle-shaped part at the top of the base. The flow generated sucks the air behind the fan.

I'm working on a new assembly design that needs to be held within a specific temperature window. I would like to determine approximate power loads required to maintain a specific temperature. For confidentiality purposes I can not share the model. Here is a simplified question about my application:

I would like to take a simulation about an enclosure with natrual convection at high altitude, but get confused about the flow simulation setting. should I just change the gravity and pressure at General settings? or I need to build a new flow material which represents the air at high altitude. PS: I got some reference from Flothermo. such software allows user to set more paraments, such as density, expansivity. but I can not find the similar setting in flow simulation.

In Solidworks 2016, what is the turbulence model used in the flow simulation? Tags: none (add) turbulence-models

SW 2016 SP5 with simulation professional here I was running simulation for a while and I hit some very frustrating bugs in the past. At the moment costumer portal is down for maintenance and I cannot check if there is a SPR for this kind of behavior or not.

I need to animate the lock bar going over the locking bumps in the lock bar trough. I currently have tried combing bodies and the assembly to a part but it still goes through the bumps. Sorry for the poor explanation. Attached is image of what I am trying to do.

What is the interpolation method used for temperature dependent material properties with property tables. Specifically I am looking for the fit used by SW for the water density and viscosity during a flow simulation. I believe it is peicewise linear.

I am currently running an analysis on the rear part of a bike suspension. I want to simplify my model with remote displacement. My problem is, that solidworks do NOT seem to recognize the face when I´ve cut the part, and so I cant apply my remote displacement. I have already cut away what I want to be gone, and the coordinatesystem for the remote displacement is also in place, but like I said, SW will not allow me to choose the surface I would like.

Hello guys. This is my 1st time using Flow Simulation in Solidworks. I am tasked to simulate a lagoon with different Volume Flow inlets. For example, I've tried putting 300 m^3/s and 3000 m^3/s as the inlet and 101325 Pa Environment Pressure.as the outlet I use global coordinations as the inlet and the outlet reference.

I have the premium version of solidworks 2016 and I want to simulate a rubber injection using solidworks plastics. However, the rubber I need is not available in the material database : it is a FKM (fluorocarbon elastomere) or Viton.

1- When I change the condenser small rod's (1mm OD) material from mild steel to copper, I am getting the same result. 2- The condenser large pipe (8mm OD) has a very high thermal conductivity (10000000 W/(m*K)) but the temperature across it is not constant.

Simulation I have been working with SW for about a year now and at this point I am barely going into simulation. That part is entirely new for me. I'm wondering, could someone explain the basics of interpreting results?

I am new to SolidWorks and want to use it to simulate the flow of Argon gas through an object, which is used for High Harmonic generation with a laser. For that Argon gas is coming directly from a bottle at a pressure of 1.4 bar through a pipe of 2mm internal diameter, which is connected to the central block. The gas enters a first volume in which a small capillary is inserted. The volume on the other side (2) is evacuated with a vacuum pump.

Bonjour, j'e fais un projet sur la conception d'une roue de pompe, quelqu'un peut'il m'aider comment utiliser solidworks flow simulation pour simuler les cavitations? Siavash Khajehhasani May 18, 2017 9:22 AM (in response to Auclaire Letamba Mbedangoyi) I am afraid if anyone has time to do this project for you here specially that with cavitation with SW Flow Sim is ridiculously time consuming.

In the motion study I have a complex organic shape and when I drop this object to a vertical solid plane with gravity I can see the natural balancing of the shape.I want to save this state as a default orientation of the object. Is it possible to do that or is there any other way? Siavash Khajehhasani May 19, 2017 3:24 PM (in response to Direnc Demirbas) Direnc: I do have a unique solution for you.
