Hello I am trying to place a die 2 inches from the top of a cylindrical collar that is made out of sheet metal. I made my own forming tool but I am having trouble centering the forming tool. I have tried using Smart Dimension center the forming tool but once it is centered the forming tool disappears and it displays an error.

I've got sheet metal parts. They're not weldments. It's real nice that SW does the Cut-List for them. I can FINALLY get the flat blank to auto-update on the print by referencing one of the fields in there.

Feature Works Are there any new add-ins like Feature Works for SolidWorks 2017? I am trying to import stp files to SW and make them sheet metal parts, but the feature recognition will not allow me to do that.

I need to create a very large fan duct round to square transition (1/4" thick) on two skewed surface. The center lines are 45 degrees apart and the round duct is 45 degrees from vertical, the square section is on a 2.5% slope from horizontal. I need to have it made in the bent method and not formed so it shows the bend lines.

I've been trying to add reference planes to a sheet metal part by rolling back to before the first sheet metal feature (I want to place the SM sketches on new planes) but when I try to put the sketches on the new planes they are greyed out, like wise if I want to add and use a new sketch to use in the SM base feature,

When i flatten the part, only some of the bend lines show up. If I unfold and refold manually using collect all bends it will unfold correctly but only recognize 3 of the bends when trying to fold it back. I have not seen this before in any parts I have made.

New to sheet metal tools, currently going to school for design technology. Working on a metal part that will be laser cut and CNC bent. Biggest issue I have run into is a why I cant "normal cut" extrude through the sheet metal pieces without getting the an error saying "unable to cut through non sheet metal features". Every part has been converted to sheet metal.

I'm attempting to set up some of my company's standard parts in SolidWorks sheet metal with formed and flat conditions that will match our shop's results. I've attached a simple example of a feature that I'm having trouble with. The flat dimensions I'm getting aren't matching our shop's calculations. I've noted our shop's results in Note 1 on the drawing and am showing the actual SolidWorks results in the dimensioned flat view.

I'm requiring the bounding box area to be in the custom/configuration specific property tab so I'm able to use it elsewhere later on. I'm only requiring this on a sheet metal parts so I can do some pricing up later on. Its frustrating as i can see the bounding box area in the cut list properties but don't know how to link it to the custom property tab.

I have a problem to roll a metal sheet which has aligned fiber structures (red color) on the surfaces (Image 1). When I fold it, the fiber structures disappeared (Image 2). I don't know how to solve this. Does anyone know how to make a rolled sheet with these rib structures?

Sheet metal bend lines show up in my assembly. When I open an assembly that contains bent sheet metal components, all the bend lines are showing. I can make the bend lines go away by opening the various sheet metal part models and then closing them. This can take a while if there are a lot of sheet metal parts in an assembly.

i have a sheet metal part, when i open the bom it lists the part and another line wich has the word sheet in the description. what is it and how do i get rid of it. Scott it is including the cut list also in the BOM as by default the BOM type is Indented. Change the BOM type to parts only and you should be fine.

Not really a Solidworks question. I'm a woodworker with occasionally forays into a bit of sheet metal so I was just wondering the reason for this as opposed to round holes. edit: This is a 3mm steel face plate for a multipoint lock, the square holes are for fixing the lock bodies (supplied fitted) and for fitting onto the side of the door during installation.
