I have been trying to find a way to make my route sketch dimensions and drawing dimensions in inches but then have the length of pipes in feet in the BOM. I was hoping to have this length appear in the quantity column of the BOM. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this? I have played around with changing the document units in the for the pipe files themselves, the units for the pipe assembly, and the units for the parent assembly that route is in but am still having issues.

I have a question about routing, I could be doing this wrong however every time I make a model with the piping I end up with 2 assembly files, the first one is usually a flange and the routing sub assembly and the second assembly is the routing sub assembly. Now I know you can make a virtual component which saves the file internally which eliminates the need for having two assembly files however the help mentions :

When I use Flatten route after I routed the wires in a 3D model, the flatten route is a mess. Is this a known issue in Solidworks? Or do I something wrong?

At our company, we like to give each pipe segment it's own unique part number/name. As you know with pipe routing files, every time a new length is introduced, a new pipe configuration is created. Any time I am done with that particular pipe assembly, I'll need to go into each pipe segment, remove unneeded configurations and set the remaining one to "Document Name" (under Bill of Materials Options) so it fits our naming convention. I've gotten fairly fast at doing this through repetition, but it

The more I'm trying to use FOF dimensioning the more I seem to notice that it has limitations. Namely in my experience you'll see things going awry if you happen to use a dimension from one face of flange to another. The problem isn't with that dimension but if however later in the route you for instance want to remove pipe between the second flange and an elbow chances seem to be bigger that you'll get overdefined or other errors.

I am trying to penetrate pipes perpendicular on a larger one but the penetrate command is not enabled to be used at that intersection point. Is there any solution for that ?

Not a question, just an observation. And yes I know I'm pushing the envelope so to speak by creating a bend pipe but nevertheless.....

hi everyone, I am a beginner in solidworks routing, I need to 3d model a fire fighting piping system (I have got the 2d schematic with dimensions), and after that I need to choose the correct support positions to minimize vibration effect resulting from pumps operation, any idea where to start? and where to get the suitable tutorials for this particular project? also I need to be working with pipes and fittings with 16" and 18" diameter, and all I can find in solidworks library is up to 14" only

I am attempting to create an hydraulic hose using Routing. Of course that is not one of the standard routing options and the routing library does not have hydraulic fittings or hoses in it that I can find which is fine with me because I want to use our company standard parts with standard part numbers and descriptions. I am attempting to learn Routing using the tutorials at the same time so that is probably where the problem comes in. I have used the Routing Component Wizard to define the hose

I have a question pertaining to flattening a cable route. So I have a cable with a back shell and connector on each end. One back shell is straight the other is 90 degrees. So I have connection points on the connectors obviously in order to make my route.

When we use connectors that are a housing with their terminals sold separately, we need to track those two items separately in inventory. Other than manually entering additional lines in my BOM list in the drawing, I can't figure out a good way to include my contacts as separate line items. Does anyone else have a good system for including the contacts for each connector in their BOM?

I couldn't find size 16" and 18" pipes and fittings in solidworks design library and I was adviced I should add them to the design table for each fitting so they would be included in the design library for future use, and that's what I had done, except for it keeps repeating this silly error (please find attached screenshot) Tags: none (add) pipe routing

We have a few different pipe materials that we commonly use (PVC, CPVC, Galvanized, Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, etc.). Each different material has it's own file with configurations for sizes. On our BOM we want to group all of the pipe of a specific material, size, and schedule and get a total length of that pipe. My problem is that the Group Pipes by Schedule options groups all of the schedule 40 pipes regardless of material and give a total length.

When working on a Routing BOM, my initial print-out shows the length of my hoses (Using Flexible tubing for this). However, after working on the drawing, the length is no longer populating. I opened my tubing file and I can't find anywhere that it refers to length. Where does this populate from?

I'm prepared for a little bit of dialogue on this question, so let me start by saying I'm running SW2016 SP4.0 Premium and my company often does piping and tanks in addition to structural steel and site work. In regards to my methodology on this question, let me start with the current way I've been doing things and then pose a question. If I have a long run of pipe that I need to break up into flanged sections for shop fabrication and material ordering purposes, or really anywhere I want to

I have a routing assembly that someone created by using "Start at point". I would like to get rid of the CPoint if possible and have the route based off 1 of the fittings instead. If that is not possible. Is there a way to edit the CPoint to change the Pipe Size and direction?
