I am very new to Solidworks and I am teaching myself via a ton of YouTube tutorials, so please bear with me if I sound like a complete novice. This model has a taper when viewed from the left or right planes. I need to use the top plane as a Neutral Plane for the origin of my Draft, however I am getting the error that "Non planar surfaces cannot be selected as Neutral plane for draft". I am assuming this is due to the fact that the Top plane has a radius to it?

A pipe fitting elbow has a clear and distinct point where the pipe goes. This is (one of) its connection point(s). Some electrical items have areas where penetration is allowed, without any actual holes to locate and constrain a connection point to.

Has the matter of the error message that my file is "corrupt and cannot be saved" ever been solved? I'm not sure that problem could be solved in a "blanket" approach. It seems to me that the corrupt file could occur for many different reasons and that SWorks does not want to perpetuate a problem.

I wanted to draw a simple hydrofoil design (in 2d to begin and then if the profile is correct make a better 3d version) from coordinates to export it to ansys a cfd software. As expected something went wrong, it says that the foil override itself and can't be drawn, even if i adjudt the points so if anyone knows how to do it thank you very much ! ( I still managed to draw the foil but in two pieces so it's not very practical ) here are the coordinates :http://airfoiltools.com/airfoil/details?

I have a front panel to electronics equpment. It has a dozen or so holes. I draw plane some distance offset from the front, sketch my text, "RF IN" for hole one, and split line it to the front panel.

I have a part made as a skeleton part and for some reason it keeps asking me for a rebuild on one of it's skeletons. The mate is a coincident with the axes aligned.

Trouble with interactive feature recognition I'm trying to recognize features on the attached imported part, because I want to suppress the circular 'teeth' cutouts on the two outer faces of the part. I'm having a bit of trouble in the interactive feature recognition menu, though.

Hi, since SW is not that friendly for equations I would like to make it friendly. So is it possible to make a table within 3d model area and link cell values to equations? The point is I would like to make something easier to input values of parameterised parts/assemblies so other co-workers know what they need to change instead of looking within 100 equations.

Hi all, I am trying to insert a plane in solidworks, and when I do, no options pop up for me to create the plane. If I click some surfaces and left click a plane is generated which tells me I can, but I get no options like everyone else does in the left taskbar. What should I do? Thanks

Starting a fresh thread for this topic, as I inadvertently semi-hijacked the "minor bug" thread. (sorry about that). Sooooo happy about the bounding box feature, hoping it works as well as it appears to. Normally I wait until SP1 or 2 to upgrade, but the bounding box is worth the early adoption risk.

2016 Hole Wizard defaults Am I missing something, or did they take away the hole wizard function of defaulting to the last used settings for hole wizard in 2016? For instance, I use a fractional inch hole, and next time i use a hole it defaults back to all sizes and the default settings.

I am trying to fix this part. Can someone give me some hints on how to go about fixing it? Alin was nice enough to fix it but he is real busy and don't have the time right now to show me how he fixed it.

Just outgassing here. Importing an assembly from a step file. I've spent most of the morning checking out of this window--probably over a hundred times right now.

To me more percise: I am attempting to create a balloon shaped solid part. Into the side would be a dimple, as if a finger is being pressed into the side of the balloon. The edges of the dimple needs to be rippled, as if the balloon was made of water. So there would be extrutions and cuts (undulations) as best as I can figure.

In a previous SolidWorks World presentation (can't remember which year), they were presenting either an add-in or a new module of SolidWorks that allows you to do various design concept in SW rather than the old days of using pencil and paper. Does anyone know how to access that module? We are starting a new project and rather than creating the concepts on paper, I would like to use SW to do it.

I see in doc properties the ability to set default tolerance on dimensions. What I DON'T see is a way to get it per decimal place. Most title blocks dictate something like this:

I can believe how good are the SOLIDWORKS Product Definition Managers at keeping a straight face! One day me and many of my AE colleagues made a passionate plea to add certain new features in the software, and the following day we see that functionality presented on the big screen in the general session at SWW 2019.Bruce Holway,Nick Birkett-Smith,Ravi Shrivastavahow did you do that??
