I wanted to model some parts, that looked like they'd been crudely handmade. I've done a little bit of this before, but with a new project it's nice to rethink things. First I modelled half of the tip, using conics and the following dimension scheme

I will be receiving a number of 3D Pipes in STEP/IGS format. My question: How can I create a 3D Sketch that follows the path of an imported file? Or is there a better way?

When you create a bend in a sheet metal part, Solidworks creates extra faces on the end that don't seem necessary. e.g. If I'd modeled the geometry in this image without the sheet metal tool, the 3 faces highlighted would be a single face.

I am working on a surface model (created from a pointcloud). I have knitted some surfaces previously, and now I want to trim a surface that is part of the knitted group. However, when I try to trim the surface, it highlight all the other surfaces that are knitted to it.

I have an assembly with many sheet metal parts in the assembly. To test some drafting I saved some of the parts to there own file. The assembly now has part files vs. the parts being inside the assembly.

I'm looking for a way to automatically generate configurations using a spreadsheet. My current top level assembly has 4 or 5 sub-assembly's with 9 or 10 configurations each. I want to be able to create a configuration for each possible combination of sub-assemblies. For instance:

In projected curve, sketch on sketch option produces this result. Are you able to understand this? What are you trying to accomplish?

Undo works like Rewind? Well a new semester is about to start and I have a question about behavior I have seen happen to several students that I cannot reproduce.

I would like to be able to change the state of geometry in a sketch from "construction" geometry to "sketch" geometry within the same sketch based on different configurations. Much like you can have different values for a dimension for different configurations. Is this something SW can do now or something they could do as an enhancement request? Would it be difficult?

I just upgraded from SW2015 to SW2017 and I am finding all of a sudden that I cannot reorder my assembly tree by dragging features and components. In all my previous models, I used the following tree order: Reference Planes and Axes

Is it possible to drive the length of a cylinder of a certain diameter from the volume of another part? I'm thinking about using an equation but how do I get the volume from a different model? That model is also split and I want it's total combined volume. I want the total volume of SPF1753-HS1 to drive the length of SPF1753-CO.

I just came to Works from Edge. My first step was setting up gauge tables. Now that I am using gauge tables, when I pick a different table (One for carbon, Aluminum, Stainless, each)

I modeled a chain. I'm not using the Chain/Belt Feature because I'm using DriveWorks to change the size & position of the chain based on user inputs. I have a custom property DESCRIPTION that is used in the assembly BOM and needs to say something like: #50 PITCH X LENGTH

Hi, I'm trying to make a case for some adapters/mouse I have. I've got the parts modeled and in an assembly as shown in this picture:Capture.PNG All I want to do now is "subtract" them straight up (linearly) from the block they're sitting in.

Press Brake forming without Tooling Marks I created this process some 25 or 30 years ago before Amada came in and showed us their new tooling style. Back then we used to bend jobs with expensive rubber sheeting to avoid press brake marks, we had some serious customers that wanted their products to look great.

Linear Pattern Have a rail with cleats on it .I would like to change the number of cleats and keep there centre distance of the cleats the same and up date the length of the rail .The measurement from the end of rail to the first cleat must stay the same on each end. Could you have a look at it.

Has anyone ever had SolidWorks start acting up and then crash, and then BAM, your assembly file on the disk is gone? I was working on an assembly that was last saved in SWX 2016; now I'm on SWX 2018.

Why does Solidworks, when you change the material of a part, only change the material in the current configuration? In Sheet metal parts we have this results in a Flat Pattern with a different material as the folded configuration.

I have created the profile of the airfoil with 3 different splines, but I continue to see a pop up box every time that says The Sketch contains an entity with unsuitable geometry for the Base flange option. And, for the Lofted bend, I get this error: (FYI, this is not the actual profile of the airfoil, it is only a mock up to get a good procedure on how to get this procedure done correctly with no problems.)
