I need to route a 3D model of a project with a large number of hydraulic hoses, fittings, valves, and bulkheads. Since there is a large number of hoses and I may have similar projects in the future, I am trying to make this routing process as automatic as possible. I have used SolidWorks's automatic routing feature without a problem while routing electrical wires, but hoses are trickier since there are extra fittings between the hose and the components.

When I work on a schematic I have the grid turned on. But when I zoom in the grid is hardly visible. This way I am not cclearly able to see If I snap to the grid or some other point because of the onsnap middle of the line or something.

Every time I search for something in the 'electrical' section of the forum, it is giving me answers for other elements of the SW-software bundle. Can this be disabled? Or is there an easy workaround?

In SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2015 SP5 - 64 bit Edition, I would like to generate reports (i.e. wiring tables) that include the part number for the connectors at BOTH ends of the cable. I am having trouble calling/querying this data to add to the tables. Looking at the BOM report, I found what I think is the variable name I want "bom_reference". It seems like the query to make this data available for this report could get complicated, and would have to be written manually.

I'm fairly new to Solidworks Electrical 2015, so hopefully this issue is just a lack of understanding on my part, I feel like this should be pretty simple, so here we go: We are currently using Solidworks Electrical to create line diagrams and cable harness schematics for automated test fixtures.

We recently migrated to SWE from AutoCAD Electrical. So we are still trying to learn it. One of the features we were hoping to utilize in SWE is the 3D layout of wires and cables. I am trying to figure out how to route multiple cables into the same component.

In the image attached below, the pink lines are supposed to be routing path created using "SOLIDWORKS Electrical 3D" -> "Create Routing Path". I've tried to make the routing path in the entire assembly as well as creating a routing path in the individual assembly but it still doesn't route with the path (as can be seen in the straight blue lines). Does anyone have any ideas as to why it is doing this? Please comment if you need more information to understand my problem.

I'm getting the error mentioned above when routing cables. It happens with all cables I have tried to route, which happen to be cables I created. Below are the properties of one. Is there something I'm missing when defining the cable properties?

When I click route wires, some of my wires route correctly and I can see the 3D wire but some wires don't even though their 3D sketch wire path is still there. Why are the 3D wires not being created even though the sketch path is already there? I took some screenshots and highlighted what I mean by some wires not wired and the path is still there. I need these 3D wires for generating reports for wire length.

I've exported a wire list to excel for the purpose of manually entering missing lengths. In my case, I have about 15 wires that are all ground wires - our numbering convention makes ground wires number '9'.

Does anyone know what this Parameter drop down in the Report Manager does? I tried changing it to a different book and my reports don't really show anything different. I am on 2017 SP2.
